in Kidney Cancer #1

Hi everyone, thank you so much for your initial comments and great advice in my initial intro to the "group.  Unfortunately things have become more complex for me.  The CT revealed , besides the mass on my kidney we knew about, a small (19mm) lesion on the tail of my pancreas, as well as multiple nodules up to 1cm on my lung bases.  I am now awaiting insurance to approve a "med onc" to  (as my urology guysays, "call the play" so I can move forward.  Hoping to get in front of one next week.  VERY frustrating....and of course scary.

Really appreciate being able to "vent".

    There are many on this board that started with a little extra baggage and some with a lot more baggage than you. Hopefully between their stories and your upcoming appointments this will be sorted out sooner than later and hopefully favorably and quickly  as well.

    It took quite a whiel from my diagnosis until my surgery.  Late April diagnosis--originally wanted to do surgery in September, and my urologist-oncologist at MSKCC was fine with that, but decided to do it in July.  When tumors are small, unless there is a compelling reason or symptoms dictating it, there is no rush.  I took my time to get a second opinion on type of surgery, etc, and I am glad that I did.

    Sorry that you are going through this but hang in there now that youa re getting an ONC you will have access to some great medications.  It is a journey and can get frustrating but stay positive.

    I'm so sorry to hear the CT

    I'm so sorry to hear the CT results but as said above, there are so many forms of treatment nowdays that it's important to stay positive. The waiting to see the oncologist must be frustrating. Hang in there and my best wishes and thoughts are with you.

    It is scary, but hang in there!  It is not uncommon to have nodules on lung bases.  They arr relatively small and can be i flammation.  There are so many treatment options right now that people are living with cancer as a chronic disease. My mom was 79 when he goubd hers, stage four and mets all through lungs, stomach. She went on votrient and was ned the last two scans.  She is 83 now.  The immunity drug Nivolumab is a great choice if you can get it. Keep us posted.  Also join smartpatients.com. Keep your chin up.

    Scary, yes... But there are so many Stage 4 guys here, who live with it  (Productively) for a long-long time! You'll definitely find an inspiration in their posts. Modern treatments make wonders, although with some side effects. But better and better medicines are appearing, and I'm sure you'll find more info on them here.

    Will keep fingers crossed for you during your treatment!

    Sounds like a splendid growth> Ive also been stage 4 since May 13th and I'm still. Try not to worry, impossible though that is! You will be given a drug and find out how effective it is and what side effects it has. Then you'll try another while they find out which drugs work for you. Effective and no side effects

    We have cancer at a very exciting Time, new and more effective are coming on by the week, slowly cancer is turning from a death sentence to a manageable, treatable, chronic condition. So try not to worry

    PET results and moving forward

    Seems like months since I have been here, but it has only been about 2 weeks! Amazing.  This is such an up and down process I really value everyone's comments, it has really helped get a grip on this "thing".  

    Learning a lot but feeling very hopeful now that pancreas has been cleared by PET scan.
