Hemp Oil

I am in a support group for all cancers.  3 months ago, we got a newbie.  He was dx with Leukemia what is now 5 months ago.  He started chemo. Did one treatment and quit.  His white cell count was back to normal.  He had 3 more to go.  They did another bone marrow biopsy, the readings were down to .4.   I don't know that much about it, other than that means treatment was working. Has told 3 more infusions andd he should be done. They would repeat the biopsy and go from there.  He was married with 3 kids

He joined us after the bone marrow biopsy when he was .4.  He was online and read up on the hemp oil treatments.  He decided not to do the last 3 treatments.  He was finally able to get the hemp oil the end of September.  On October 14, he saidhe went for blood tests and his numbers showed the leukemia was back in full force.  He also stated how stupid everyone was who puts poison (chemo) in their bodies.  I told him we respect his choice even though we may not agree that the is for us, but calling you us stupid was not showing us rezpect.

He was so adamant that hemp oil would work because of the testamonials.  I said I read up on it, and anyone can post anything, but when I sent emails and asked for more info, the only response was on how to get it, where to get it, and how to cook it down, but nothing showing results, numbers, etc.  He found someone in CA who sold him about 1200. Dollars worth.

Needless to say, it did nothing.  He passed Nov. 2 .  I feel bad for his family.  He was so cocky, that he was smarter than the doctors, etc.  He believed every word he read about thebenefits of this treatment over chemo.  I agree 100% on the benefits of Marijuana as far as nausea, and it also helped with some pain relief and anxiety.  But I have a hard time realizing how many people believe that it will cure the cancer.

Everyone always asks if anyone knows if it works, we'll thiswas enough proof for all of us that it does not work!  He was in his mid 30's and other than the leukemia, he was healthy.

    Sad story

Too often we buy in to alternative treatments that have no scientific data behind them.  I thought your post was going to be about how you have used hemp oil for your bone pain and that it helped.  See?  I am always hoping that there are alternatives to pain control.  I have a good friend with significant back pain who claims medical marijuana helps with pain.  Either that, or he doesn't care. . . which is also help.

But a cure?  So sad about the man who was led to believe this would work and found that it didn't.

It is sad that people believe

everything online.  However, we all make our choices, and so many in the support group tried to tell him to get more info. ???

And yes, The medical mj worked.  A friend gave me a few little pieces of a chocolate bar. Looked like a Hershey bar.  We broke one of the little squares into 8 pieces, I ate like 2 little pieces and it helped.  Thought iwas.psycological, so I had to try again, and it did help numb the pain.  We al.ost got a bill to o legalize it passed here.  It lost by 1 vote, so they are trying again.  Well worth it.

    I agree 100%

It's one thing to get help for symptoms from alternative therapies (and many doctors dismiss them too easily) and entirely another to refuse conventional treatment. I think people believe these so-called testamonials because they feel deep inside that they won't be able to handle chemo and maybe even it's a kind of denial they have a serious disease. I researched these quack cures one day with a simple Google search and I was amazed by how many MORE of them there are than real cures. It is getting difficult to locate bonafide scientific information these days. The people charging 1,200 dollars for nothing derserve a special place in hell. Thanks so much for sharing this story and I wish you best of luck controlling your pain. Hugs, Anna

    That's so sad. And human.

    Carol,

You have a lot of stories to tell and you tell them well. So many times I've run across ego and stubborness, but it doesn't usually cost someone their life. This guy, though -- that must have been hard to watch. I wonder if his family believed or if they, too, were trying to convince him to go with conventional treatment.

he said his wife supported his decision

His kids are young.  He was so cocky, when someone asked if his kids were worth him trying the last 3 chemo treatments, he said his wife was capable if he wasn't around and one person said that was selfish that his kids needed him..

It just made me sad for his kids.  I hope if we get the bill for medical marijuana approved that they do it soon.  Pot helps the pain, nausea and appetite.  But it is not a cure and I know many have asked about it on here over the years.
