Same MRI in a one month period

in Kidney Cancer #1

We just had scans/mri’s 10/5, 10/6 and 10/8.  They included an mri of the spine.  We were told spine tumor is gone and others are stable.  My husband complained of back pain then and they said it could be anything maybe he strained it and to see if it heals in the coming weeks.  The plan was to go back in February and redo everything.  His back pain has been getting worse so Onc ordered the same MRI of spine tomorrow.  I asked the MRI facility it was unusual to have the same MRI 1 month apart and they said they have seen them as early as 2 weeks apart.  The little experience I have had has been that they have a very nonchalant wait and see attitude like things don’t progress that quickly.  Has anyone else seen this?

I guess I will find out when we get results on Monday but here goes the wait and see time again.  Its so hard :(

    last year

    I was in much pain and mri's showed nothing several times. Not until february did anything show.

    Well it does sound like good

    Well it does sound like good news...but not so good that your hubby is feeling a lot of pain. I hate when it gets put off to pulled muscle. But at least they are listening and scheduling an MRI. I pray that it is good news - and is just a pulled muscle!

    Let'S hope for a pulled

    Let'S hope for a pulled muscle. It can hurt A LOT too - my back is rather strained due to carrying our daughter around, and there are days when I just can't get up from the bed normally, I'm bending in half from pain.

    You can also try ro show the same old MRIs to another radiologist for a second opinion.

    Back to Back MRI's

    Hi Cheatinlil - when I had my scare earlier this year when I finally switched to RCC specialist I had the same MRI 3x within 3 weeks with different contrast.  It showed different areas of the liver so maybe its possible they are looking to find the reason for the pain.

    That is interesting to know that that it has to grow to a size to show up on the scan.  Someone told me maybe if they did a pet scan instead of a ct it may show up better earlier but who knows…

    When we asked for second

    When we asked for second opinion on partner's CT, we showed it to another radiologist, for his impression. In our country it can be arranged, for much smaller amount of money than new MRI or CT.

    There are many options - that there is realy nothing on the scan, or it is too small to see, or smth was missed by first radiologist. Let's hope there is nothing!
