    Hi

I am, and have been, taking cucurmin supplements along with it's helper(to absorb) biopene.  I have been taking it for about4-4 1/2 years.  My dr. is thrilled I am taking both(at M.D. Anderson).  The brand I was told to take as a very good one is Life Extends found on line at The Viatimin Shoppe.  I take anywhere from 800 to 1600 mg. a day and I think the biopene is 25 mg...not sure.  Not saying it's what has kept me NED, but I'm not about to stop it now!  Both will cost you about 40.00 a month. E-mail me here or post on this thread if you have questions.  You can also start the spice Tumeric and black pepper in soups, stews, stir-fries, salads, whatever.  You could just go this route, but you wont get the consentration as with the supplements.  I have never had any trouble with the supplements myself and know some of the "older ones" on the boards still take this every day.  Best, Debra(Jo)

    Curcumin during chemo?

Debrajo, did you take the curcumin during chemo?  I have read conflicting information on this.  For me, because it is an iron-chelator and my numbers, even before chemo, hovered around the low normal level, I have not been taking it during, though I took it before.  I have read the old posts by RoseyR and I think it is CaliforniaArtist which have quite a bit of information regarding this.

    You are correct Editgrl.  I

You are correct Editgrl.  I started taking the supplements right after chemo.  I didn't find this site til AFTER EVERYTHING was over!  About May of 2010.  I learned From Kate, CaliforniaArtist, and RoseyR.  As far as I know we are all still here.  There redeips, directions, all kinds of info on the older threads.  It does seem strange, but I have always been extremely anemic, but my counts were never low enough to delay chemo/radiation, nor did I have to take the nulestra shots.  But , boy, did my bones hurt!  One dr. explained it to me about the pain, was the marrow in the boned depleted by chemo was working overtime to replace its self, and mine seemed to be in an extra hurry!  I had forgotten to mention in my post about waiting til after chemo to start or re-start the cucurimun.  Thanks for the reminder!  Best, Debra

    Interesting theory

    for the bone marrow.

Mine after chemo #5 got crazy, I still can not find place to rest with pills or without, same bad pain.

Thanks for the information about the curcumin too, I hate it and don't take it recently. Maybe my body is talking to me,

    I'm anemic too.

    curcumin and latrozole

According to this study the curcumin supplements enhance the effectiveness of latrozole on endometrial cancer.

    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2003830

Interestingly the population that was not given letrozole and only used curcumin had almost the same response rate as letrozole alone.
