So sorry that this happened.  I also do yearly colonoscopy with endoscopy every other year.  I have been very lucky that the prep is not a problem so me.  I don't like the stuff but I can chug it down pretty easily.  The last one or two glasses are the hardest.  I also have no cramps or stomach issues.  I just go and go.  The liquid diet is a bore but mostly I drink water and diet 7 up.  One time I did an alternative prep.  It involved pills and a small bottle of a laxative (don't remember the name).  My next one I asked about it and they decided that with my diabetes and kidney issues it was not a good choice.  I have read where the pills are most effective with the virtual colonoscopies and that people with kidney issues should not use it.  Also some people have cramping and stomach issues for days afterwards but  I think that if I were you I would follow Vicki Sam's idea and ask about it.  All they can do is say no.

I find it disheartening when doctors tell us that we are wasting their time.  Like anyone wants to do a prep like this and then not be able to do the test and have to do it all over again.  I remember my first cystoscopy.  I asked to be put out but the gal who set it up assured me that they could use a light sedation and numbing gel.  I explained that I am phobic about being touched anywhere in the nether regions but she was sure it was the way to go.  The day of the test I was so nervous.  They put in the IV and got me all set up.  I could not do it.  I started crying and apologizing and generally having a breakdown.  The doctor who was doing the actual test came over and said in the kindest manner that it was not a big deal and that they would reschedule under full sedation.  He said that these things happen and that I should not worry about it.  I babbled about wasting all their time and he said that it didn't matter, that what mattered was me and my health and my comfort.  He made me feel so much better.  If he had done what your doctor did I would not have gone back and the cancer that was discovered at the successful cystoscopy a few days would not have been found.  I have had 14 or 15 of these and all under sedation.  Most are fine but a few other have shown cancer.  So far they are small, low grade and easily treated.  One time I even had my colonoscopy and cystoscopy done in tandem.  They happened to be scheduled a few days apart and I was joking with the urologist about it being too bad they couldn't do them at the same time.  He consulted with the gastro doctor and they rearranged the schedule to do them at the same time. 

My hopes that you can have a successful prep and test.  My kindest thoughts are with you.  As for the jerk that said what she did, she has no bedside or any other kind of manners.   Surely after all the preps and tests you have done she must realize that you know the importance of this and that vomiting is not something we can control.  Gag reflexes are just that a reflex.  Again so sorry that this was not a success.

I have phobic issues with stitches/ staples. (I tell my dr and they  wont' listen-i have passed out in the office when having them removes-on my way out)

When the dr woke up -she said you wasted my time-(full sedation) really! that was what i heard after being shaken awake!

Last year I begged to go back the  next am , since prep was almost done-she said NO

i stopped to eat , I got a call, come back tomorrow at 6 am -i said i just ate-no can do.

I told the dr I have done this 26 times, I never put it off-so not like a am avoiding the test. I TRY THE BEST I can..when I said i am tossing in the towel-SHe said 'YOU CAN"'

NOW I remember about that Prep thing.... yes....  I had a colonoscopy one time about 23 years ago and do remember drinking some evil stuff and not eating etc... but they did put me to sleep (for only about 30 minutes) and it went well then.   I was supposed to get another one in ten years but never did it because my husband was very ill and dying from COPD and I was too stressed at that time.  Then when I got the BC they did so many scans etc and never mentioned anything about my colon so far....   I'm with the other ladies in saying that you need to get another doctor...and you also need to REPORT that female doctor who talked so rudely to you.  I'm serious about this....REPORT HER before she does it again to somebody who is not as strong as you.   Just a shame you have had this bad experience.  Sending you a big hug and a jug of pink wine to soothe and comfort.     Glo

 

2008 While going throu BC i

2008 While going throu BC i had a colonoscopy -my colistis was off the chart from the stress of it all. So while going through biopsies, surgery etc. I had a colonsopy.

 

I have a bad time yearly with the prep. THE unkind DR says each time"WHY do you have such a hard time"? I tell her time and time again, It is not like I am putting it off-i have had now 26 of them. I never miss a year.

 

IF I report her to her office-I am sure they will just toss in the the trash. I was thinking of sending it to the Hospital where her offfice it located.

 

I have to find a new dr and then request my files to be sent. She wanted me to go back this week for another coloscopy. What would a week do?  still same prep, same issues-

 

the first time she did my test (after my Dr retired, i had never met her-i always saw the PA in the office, she never came over to me in the OR room- (like my great Dr did-saying ARE YOU ready? and i'd say NO...joking)

 

she just entered the room, went to the computer-that was it

i was knocked out-she spoke to my husband afterwards.

this time they never brought my daughter in once prepped or afterwards.
