75th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally

Next Monday the 75th Sturgis Rally officially starts so am asking again if anyone is coming.  As this is the 75th one more than a 1,000,000 (as more than a million) are expected this year.  So far it does seem like there are more bikers here already than usual before a Rally.

No, I don't normally go to Sturgis during Rally as it is CRAZY and I'm not a 'biker' - my 'leg powered' (read 'peddled) Peugeot 'bike' doesn't count as a 'bike'Wink .  I live about 35 miles from Sturgis so if anyone is coming and would like to 'meet up', I'd make an exception and go up to meet.  Years ago I met a woman at a Horse Site I go to who was coming to Rally with her Husband.  Turned out good for them as their truck broke down over 100 miles from Rally in the middle of nowhere.  She called me,  Hubby picked up parts to patch it enough to get it to Rapid.  The next morning Hubby was able to get a friend who owns a repair shop to get the truck in for them the next day (during Rally it's hard to find any good to at least decent repair shop for at least a week if you are not a 'local'.).  She and I took off to the Hills for riding - 4 legs, not 2 (or 3) wheels.

Last week Billings, MT had a huge BMW Rally - of course not as big as Sturgis but it was quite large.  Hubby had a tow from Sturgis where a BMW bike was repaired after it broke down there to Billings (about 300 miles away) to deliver it last Fri.  What was funny (at least to me Wink) was that on Thurs, he towed a BMW car that had broken down in the Hills to the BMW dealership in Loveland, CO (about 350 miles).  I rode with him on both of those tows as if I have nothing to do on days he has long tows he likes me to ride along so he's not alone.

Oh yeah - if anyone is coming (or has friends/family coming) be sure to have rain gear.  During Rally Week, there are usually Severe Thunderstorms often with large hail.  Last night, there were several in the overall area - some with 70 mph gusts and baseball sized hail.
