Implanted neurostimulator for incontinence, anyone?

I recently saw the colo-rectal surgeon about my worsening anal isues - pain and bowel & unrinary incontinence. He says I now have scar tissue in my anal parts and my inner sphincter is weakened. If this continues, he wants me to consider having a neurostimulatior implanted. It will keep the muscles toned. He gave me literature on the Medtronic brand device.

Has anyone had experience with implanted neurostimulators? The brochure says that "seven out of every ten patients experienced at least a 50% reduction in weekly accidents". The doctor said it can help unrinary incontinence, too, but the literature doesn't mention that. Pros, cons, indifferences?

Thank you, pals .^_^.

    Hi Ouch

I am not familiar with these devices and have not communicated with anyone who has one, so I'm of no help.  I'm going to have to check it out on the internet.

    Hoping for an independent opinion.

I was hoping to discuss it with someone who has one "installed". The Medtronic company has a telephone number where one can request a telephone conference with a patient volunteer, but I was hoping to have a greater degree of separation  .^_^.
