ENT visit

Finally, my first ENT visit! He scoped me and saw the blockage in my left nasal as well as reddened throat. He decided on a course of antibiotics for 10 days followed by a CT scan after! He did say he wanted to be sure of things in light of the blockage and especially the persistent headaches. He said they wanted to be sure there is no infection before the CT scan. So I will comply with his orders and hope for the best. I may not know much else until I go back May 8th for the follow up but still holding out hope that it will be a benign issue as opposed to malignant. As I have already been through the worry and wait before with the benign tumors on my Liver, I know firsthand that these things take time to diagnose. I must say that all of you folks who responded to my first post helped me tremendously, more than you could know. You have given me valuable info and hope. And even if it is malignant in nature, I feel maybe I have a chance. I intend to check this board from time to time and will update after May 8th when I see the ENT again! God bless you all!Smile

    No Fun Waiting

When I have to wait to hear test results I am mostly a basket case.  A couple of things keep me going, one it an't cancer until they say its cancer and often it is not cancer.  Second neck and head cancer if very treatable and doctors seem to kow how to teat most head and neck cancers unlike some other cancers where its try and see.  Keep us informed.

    Welcome to the H&N group

First and formost, Welcone to the group, and also hope you won't need to be here. Hope is is just a blockage and your ENT is taking all the right steps to find out. Antibotics will help with infection but won't touch or help cancer, so he is taking the rights steps. We'll keep our fingers crossed that the antibiotics help and it shrinks and goes away. We'll keep you in out prayers.

    CT scan

I will have my first CT scan of head and neck this Monday the 20th! Ironically it's scheduled right after a yearly Mammogram! If a tumor is found will the Doc contact me right away? How many days will it take for results? I will finish antibiotics this Sunday the day before CT scan. Unfortunately I continue to have the blockage, swelling, fatigue and headache:p I can't thank all of you enough for your words of wisdom, encourgement and the hope you have given me! Work has kept me busy but these things are always at the back of my mind! Thank you in advance for any replys to these questions:) God bless!

    Thank you!

Thank you so much Debbiejeanne for your reply! It is good to know that they would contact me if there is something suspicious! I was praying they wouldn't make we wait until the next follow up which is the 30th with my PCP and May 8th with the specialist! I can't tell you what all of your kind words, info and encouragement mean to me at a extremely stressful time! I am still hoping it will be a benign conditon but truly want to be armed with all the info I can get just in case! I found about about a young man of 35 diagnosed with cancer and recommended this site! I am trying to visit frequently and educate myself and feel this site and you people have been a blessing for a girl with some shattered nerves right now! Again, thank you<3

    They will call you....

It might be a day or two and they should call you with the answers, or have you come in. The longer it takes the more likely is is nothing to be concerned with.

I hope all goes well on

I hope all goes well on Monday and that you get good news.  doctors get the results fairly fast and yes, they will call you if there is some cause of concern.  You can ask for them to call you either way.  We did that and they did.

sending you good thoughts and support. Let us know how it goes and know we are here for you!

I have a deep appreciation for Powerline workers as I have seen first hand what they endure! They are a rare breed indeed! Most people don't understand why they can't just (Flip a switch) when the lights go out, lol;) It is certainly one of the most dangerous jobs and alot involved! As I mentioned I have been a Powerline wife for 29 yrs. now! I have had the pleasure of watching my husband on the lines throughout the yrs and it is amazing! I commend you and want to say it's a pleasure to connect with you! Take care!

Hurry up and wait is torture,

Hurry up and wait is torture, we know. Hopefully it is the calm before the "not" storm.

I have met many linemans wifes over the years and they are pretty incredible as well. I guess it just goes with the terrain?

To all of you wonderful people!

I finally see my PCP tomorrow with results from the CT scan! I am hoping for the best but still having symptoms such as some swelling (One-sided), blockage ect. Hopefully a benign issue as anyone would hope for! I am also having significant chest (ribs) pain and going to be proactive and request an ultrasound! I have had this pain for 1 1/2 yrs. and they have called it Costochondritis (Inflammation of cartilage of ribs) benign but very painful condition. I have had OMT, PT, ect. with no results. The change is that the pain has increased over the last few wks. Anyways I am actually writing to thank everyone who responded to my posts even though I don't have a definitive diagnosis yet! For your time, consideration, thoughts and prayers! I am generally a very strong girl and have endured much throughout life but due to recent events have become very scared! I haven't told many except you fine folks. Like I said, I don't have a diagnosis yet and don't want to alarm anyone. Keeping these fears to myself has been hard in itself:p I will be back to update soon! I can't thank you all enough! You've done more for me than you could ever imagine by just being there during this difficult challenge! I will never forget that and know I am saying prayers for you as well<3
