I did my second chemo last Thursday.  They gave me more IV meds to help with delayed nausea and side effects.  Still feeling yucky...    Had neulasta shot that next day for white count.  did vomit on Monday night which didn't happen last time.   Was hoping after a week the nausea would be better.  I cant drink or eat much as right now everything. Tastes horrible.  Last time I felt good for about a week after I was hospitalized with neutrapenia.  As I know we are all different but can anyone relate. Will I get any relief for a bit before next round.  I also have horrible acid this time that I take Prilosec and tums for ...

    I can relate

I'm so sorry you are feeling  crummy. Are you having  problems with nausea or is it fatigue that is hitting you?I do hope you can get a break and feel somewhat normal before your next treatment. I had horrible nausea while I was on chemo and the prescription meds did nothing for me. My doctor prescribed ( on the recommendation of the oncology nurse) the Sancuso patch it is a transdermal patch that you wear so that you get a continuous dose. I still felt pretty awful but at least I could keep down water. Also have you tried eating bland foods such as mashed potatoes or plain rice ?  Please let us know how you are doing and remember that we are always here for you. Love Surf

    Hi

thanks for your input..  Mashed potatoes and rice is about all I can find to eat this go around.  Even chicken soup tastes like cardboard.  I have tried so much too drink and it all taste horrible. What tasted good a week ago taste awful now.  Pretty much stuck to ice tea with lemon.  And it's mostly the nausea and acid .. Last time after I got better from being neutrapenic things were actually tasting better and stuff but now it all starts over. And ya doesn't seem like the anti nausea vomiting meds help much ..

    The nausea meds didn't help

The nausea meds didn't help me much either. I kept eating a portion of whatever healthy meal I was cooking for my kids just to keep well. I couldn't taste anything anyway so I figured I might as well get some nutrients. It looks like you have kids so maybe you can eat for them like I did. I was determined not to get too skinny and scare them. I managed to keep my weight loss to a minimum. It's all temporary. When you are done with chemo, your taste comes back slow but sure! Good luck, Anna (3 yr survivor, formerly on taxotere+herceptin)
