So sorry

Hi friends.  I am Janice. And kinda new to breast cancer.  I was diagnosed during my annual physical and things have been spiraling eversince.  I am handling the chemo itself just fine.  It's the exhaustion for the 2-3 days after. My caregiver is amazing, it's my husband.  He went inti retirement to care for me.  He truly needed to retire he is 73 years old.

I have problems with dehydration, even after drinking gallons of water and now Gatorade.

The latest mishap was blood clots in my arm.  Massive pain.

So that's me kinda in a nutshell.

Chemo #3 in the morning.

I think the weirdest thing is having to wear a cap.  I had such thick hair, I never wore a hat in my life.  I am 63.

Blessings to you all.

I am the one that hasn't gotten Pats ornament off to her.  It will go out this week.  So sorry.

    Port update

i had a port put in 11 December.  The first use was 22 December,  it took two pokes because it was planted deep.  But they used the freeze,  and they felt as bad as they could.  Then on the 27th back to the ER blood clots.  How much fun was this.  My right arm from my neck to my finger tips along with my neck down past my port was so swollen, I could not bend my fingers or move my neck.  I looked like (at least half of me) like one of those blow up characters.

What fun, can't use my left arm, it has a limb alert, my right appears to have blood clots, so blood pressure on the Leg.  Labs come in. Where can she draw from, the port won't give access.  I showed her where the best poke would be with the least collateral damage, she poked and with some coaxing got about 1/2 what she hoped for.  But enough.  Then comes in chest x-Ray, then ultra sound.  Hubby watched the ultra sound and said he quit counting after five in the bend in my arm.

So pain pills blood thinners and take it easy.

January 5.  Chemo day.  Treatment #3 - 3 nurses could not access the port!  Felt it Had tipped.  So off to the hospital we go to interventional radiology.  Get checked out by this hottie PA, ( and yes I flirt, after all I am only 63).  Well his assessment was it had tipped, but how?  I asked if it happened when I had all the swelling.  It was very possible.  So into proceedure room we get to go.  The PA manipulated it from a 90% to a 14%.  Before we got started.  In comes the Dr.  And tries to access.  No go but he keeps trying  and on the x ray it looks like he should be in.  they ended up using contrast.  The proceedure was Unbearable.  I finally demanded something for pain.  He was finally able to access the port!  and thought I would leave it in for remaining 10 weeks of chemo!  Sain no! But, had my chemo, exhausted, happy to see my bed and Jammie's.  Another contributing facter was I am on blood thinners and have to be off them for three days prior to replacing the port.

that was my fun day at the Dr.s. Now mind you, this is definitely not the norm.  It is the Janice!  (That's me).

have a great day.  I plan on it.  I have to get tidied up for the ladies coming in for the

Cleaning for a reason, on Monday.  Hugs to all.

    Wow

It's not going too smoothly for you, is it?

You have a great sense of humor and, hey, you look for the silver lining (a hottie PA to flirt with) so attitude will certainly help while you get this straightened out.

    Keep us posted,
