Hypopharygeal/cricopharyngeal stenosis

I've got a date at last to try to open my throat. The 12 February. They are either going through the PEG or through a small laparoscopic incision.they are doing a retrograde dilation in combination with one of the gastroenterologists. I will need if it's successful have follow up OGDs and dilations following the procedure. There's risks with this procedure and the possibility that it is not technically feasible. If I don't try it I will never know if I could swallow again. I'm nervous but also excited that I may at last be normal again. Has anyone had this procedure and what were the results.

    procedure

I haven't had that procedure, just many many dilations going down (not up).

I hope this works for you.  I ended up with a total laryngectomy, because my problems ended up stemming from a tumor, and I truely appreciate every meal I can now eat.

    Keep us posted!

    Tread procedure

My dad had the tread procedure done where there were 2drs. During the operation, one went thru the peg and opened a stricture and the other went down the throat and opened a stricture.  They also put steroid injections to shrink the swelling in the throat after the procedure.  He had this done three times.  However, the next two dilitations were only down the throat. my dad went from not eating or drinking to slowly eating almost everything.  ( without too much trouble).  I wish you the best and hope this helps.

Thank you for this post, the date for the procedure is not far off 12 February and I'm getting cold feet.  They told me there's risks. I would love to eat again.
