in Uterine/Endometrial Cancer #1

Just got the best Chanukah gift I could ever dream of - a perfectly clear ct-scan!

This marks a 46 month remission from stage 4B grade 3 UPSC. Diagnosed September

2010, cancer was found all over the pelvic area and in all 40 lymph nodes tested.

C hanukah is a holiday of miracles  and this is my personal miracle that I wish for

everyone fighting this disease. I am BRCA 2 positive which  can be the reason for

the long remission  but I also follow a strict anti-cancer diet plus exercise.

I realize that people mention all kinds of food cures and no one knows what to

believe  but I have a gut feeling that whole ground lemon and black raspberries

in a smoothie  for almost 4 years has in some way helped me. I recommended

this to a young woman with stage 4 colon cancer a  while back and she listened

to me because she knows who I am   and how I'm doing.    Of course I don't

know if my suggestion actually helped but she is doing much better than the

poor prognosis she was given.    Read  the various studies on the lemon and berries.

They are amazing.  The raspberries can be ordered at Frankfarms.com and I am

    That's truly amazing that you're doing so well after having all those positive lymph nodes.  It is a great Chanukah present for you.  It looks like you and I, both stage IVb at diagnosis, will be a part of the 9% of five year UPSC survivors in the coming year.  Yahoo!!!

    Pinky,  I believe  you said that you are going to be tested for the BRCA gene.   My doctor at Sloan, who sees an enormous

    number of patients,  told me that  the only other patient of his with type 2 endometrial cancer and a  4- 5 year remission  has

    the BRCA 1 gene!  When I was genetically tested, the counselor (at Sloan)  told me about these longer remissions and

    the reason for them .   Good luck to all of us!!

    BRCA testing denied

    I thought I was getting the BRCA testing, but I'm not.  I had gotten a letter from my insurance company over the weekend saying I had been approved to get Colaris genetic testing.  Since I had applied for BRCA testing and the insurance company's approval had been rescinded the next day, I assumed my gyn/onc had fought for me and gotten the BRCA gene testing approved.  That isn't what happened.  I called his office on Monday to see if I needed to have my blood re-drawn.  I figured the outside lab might have thrown the blood away when my insurance company disapproved the testing, or perhaps the blood would be too old to use by then.  Instead, I found out the BRCA testing was still denied, and when my gyn/onc had heard that, he had applied for another type of genetic testing for colon and endometrial cancers.  So that's what the Colaris testing approval was.  He hadn't told me he was applying for this other type of testing, so I had no clue that's what was happening.  I doubt anything positive will be found in testing for these kinds, because they don't run in my family.
