Pneumonia a 3rd time

in Head and Neck Cancer #1

For some reason I can seam to kick this Pneumonia problem about two weeks ago I got rid of it and it is back again. I remember Denny always having this same problem every few months and always having to go back to the hospital. I am glad that the doctor can treat it with just injections of antibiotic and not having to keep me in the hospital. I hope and pray that it will go away this time.

    Not again...........

    Wondering if it is viral and not bacterial.Bacteral gets antibotics and viral gets steroids. I have to take both if I get any sibg of sickness or my mucus goes yellow or green. So far it has worked for my COPD and no trips to hospital.  Best of luck to you.

    after over a week, this is almost as bad as the flu. It has really knocked me down and I have no energy. Have a bit of nausea not sure due to pills or the radiation I"m for bone mets but its tiring walking to my car

    for you, it's so depressing to keep getting ill when you've won the war on cancer. I'm in a similar position, my stomach problem won't go away and the doc keeps saying....hospital...again. I prayer it will soon be better and you enjoy Christmas.

    Aspiration

    Hondo,

    Have they checked to make sure you aren't aspirating, and that is the cause?  Aspiration pneumonia is bacterial and can recur.  Just wondering.

    agree with tracey

    Aspiration pneumonia is common: even happens frequently to people with reflux.  Make sure they check for aspiration, Hondo.

    Sorry to hear you can't shake the pneumonia bug. I'm hoping you've finally got it on the run this time.

    low dose naltrexone

    I talk low dose naltrexone which boost your immune system and supposedly helps fight infections etc.  I have taken it for over a year and I never get sick.  It mihgt help to give your immune system a boost.  It is cheap and no bad side effects.

    Tim,

    My husband is having issues with this also.  His was considered bacterial the last time, and put on a pill that fights this specific kind.  Make sure their hitting it with the proper med.  Also have you had the pneumonia shot ?  I get one every 3 yrs., as when I get this crap I end up in the hospital every time.   Feel better soon dear friend.  Hugs sent !  Katie

    Because of how messed up my stomach is the Lung doctor did not want to give me more antibiotic to take and keep messing the stomach up anymore then needed. So he has been giving me a shot of some antibiotic everyday for the last week, I am feeing a lot better just hope the pneumonia is gone.

    You would know the shot is always in the Butt, so I have been dropping my pants for some real pretty women lately.

    True story

    Many years ago I was in the hospital and was to get a shot in my rear end. Well the nurse came in and said to please roll over she was to give my shot. So I did and just as she stuck the needle in she said,"You used to date my Daughter didn't you?" Well I remembered her daughter who was very nice, but I was not going to answer until the needle was out. I hoped she remembered me the same way as I remembered her. She was a very sweet girl, and must have remembered me the same, because the needle came out just fine. I did tell her to say Hi from me.

    Tim don't answer questions when the needle is in your rear.  Just Saying.

    Getting a good look

    A few years ago my doctor needed to do an upper and lower GI, but he wanted to do it at the hospital, I am not sure why. Anyway the nurse came and got me put me in the exam room, two other nurses came in and gave me a robe and said strip it all down and put this on. OK so I was waiting for someone to show me where, after a while 4 more came in the room and told me I need to get changed because the doctor is waiting. Well I am in a room now with 7 beautiful women and I started to pull it all off, they were all talking to each other so no one say anything to me until I had my underwear off and was putting the robe on. By that time they were all looking with their hand covering their eyes but getting a good look too saying oh not in here, but it was too late. That was before I had any C and I was 6’1 and 230lbs, I told them don’t worry I am use to undressing like this, every time I see my doctor she always needs to look at everything.

    jaw stiffness

    i am still lost on this site! Skiffin said that you were familiar with the head. And neck issues. My husband had squamous cell to the head and neck area back in 2009. After surgery , chemo , radiation the Cancer came back every year . The last time was tonsil so after another surgery , we traaveled to MD Anderson for intense radiation. 

    Recently my husband's jaw has locked up and causing tremendous pain. Have yo had a similr experience? Hope you are getting back on your feet and appreciate any info you could send our way. X-Ray revealed no tooth issue (although they are extremely damaged), no broken jaw. Ct revealed no Cancer PTL so they are focusing on muscle pain.

    When I got the pneumonia the first time right after thanksgiving now I couldn't leave out Christmas too. Went in thurs night and it has come back roaring not to mention I'm anemic too. 4 units this week. Still at COH hoping to have a G-tube put in as I'm breathing almost on one lung only. Will find out tomorrow the direction I have to go. 2 months ago I'm playing golf in Scotland and today I can barely get up and get across the room. Antibiotics and fluids are helping but I have a long way to recovery now. Tell you this really sucks

    I know what you mean on the pneumonia it can really hurt when you can’t get enough air and the body is calling for more. Let us know how you are doing and how the PEG tube works for you. Happy New Year to you

    Jeff, I'm sorry you're so sick and I'm praying for you to be better soon.  hard to believe how quickly things/health can change.  hang in there.  I hope you are up and about and feeling more like you in a short while.  I'll be praying for you.  Happy New Year.
