hooked up to treatment six of six (Folfixiri) yesterday. Avastin was withheld from this final treatment. Nausea is the first hurdle to overcome. Dexadran (spelling) has me up at this hour... Diarreah will be the next challenge in the next few days. 

We have tested CEA prior to each treatment. 18, 11, 12, 12, 9, 8. CEA and scans have held the cancer "in check." Time to cut it out!

Liver resection # three is scheduled for Friday 12/5. This will be surgery number seven overall. The surgeon ordered a colonoscopy to be completed before surgery. That is scheduled the day before Thanksgiving. I swear he is looking for any reason to not do the surgery. He said he needs to see biopsy results prior to surgery if any polyp's are taken.

 I have a feeling that this surgery will lead to a long remission. However, the remission will likely be aided by my oncilogist's plan. He wants to do maintenance chemo for a year following surgery. Including Erbitux as that drug did prove effective in my cancer. I pray the pace of the "maintenance chemo" will be tolerable.

Something weird regarding the surgery date... some numbers that stuck with me for a long time were 1257. Don't know whay? They are sory of my "lucky" numbers. this is surgery 7 on 12/5. Hence 1257. Silly I suppose. And yesterday I noticed on my hospital ID. The ID number assigned to me gas 125 in the nine digit number: 125xx125x. Weird? Coincidence?

Well, I'm going to try and get some more sleep... Between nausea and bad sneezing.

    That is all great news. I have beomed somewhat obcessed with numbers as well. My next scan is on 12/2. My last surgery was on 12/2 so I take that as a good sign. I am being scheduled for cryoablation for the second week in December. It would be interesting if it ends up on 12/8 which was the day I was released from the hospital after my last surgery which was my third liver resection, almost the same date as you third liver resection.

    I hope this is your last surgery and a forever remission.  I am obsessed with numbers too.  For some reason when I look at a digital clock it is 1006 which is my birthday.  12/5 will be a special day and it is also my sisters birthday, and Jeff 12/2 is my husbands birthday.  I hope the main thence chemo is good to you.

    Getting that CEA down and looking at possible remission post surgery is all good news IMHO.  

    Stay in touch and let us know how the surgery goes.

    I am sorry about the maintinance chemo, but if its going to keep those little beggars at bay, then it's doable. 

    Whose to say that numbers aren't important. If they are important to you, then thats all that matters. 

    - Just for kicks and giggles, whenever I go to bed, my digital ceiling clock (yes, the time is beamed to the ceiling and its GREAT) always says 911. -

    You are on my calendar, and prayers of the most feverant kind will be sent Heavenward.

    Goog luck with the surgery and consider taking 800mg Cimetidine starting 2 weeks before.

    Newbie to forum

    Hi all, Scott here from California. Dx'd with colon cancer 1/13. After emergency surgery, radiation and two rounds of chemo went without any recurrance until month ago. Found 2 mets on  left lobe of liver. Had surgery 1 week ago for resection. I feel like crap, looking for truck that ran me over. Should I expect Cscans every three months. They did say they would be scanning just assume its CT.

    I read your posts of several liver resections, make me feel so bad for you then I think well at least they can rescect right? I'm going thru a lot of things mentally as you know trying to wrap my head around my fate. I turned 52 last Sunday.

    Oh this all sounds very very promising to me!  These numbers lining up may sound weird .. but I bet ya there is something to this!! You got this one in the bag!  

    Walking out in long term remission sounds likely! 

    Very glad to hear you made it through the 6 of 6 .. and hopefully starting to feel a bit better from treatment.

    Sorry to hear asbout your diagnosis and tirals.  There are many people on this board who know what you are going through.  And I'm probably one of them. 

    Someone (Craig those who have been on the board a while) told me that battling cancer is more like a marathon than a race.  And I have to say I can totally relate to this analogy having gone through what I've experienced so far...  There are ups and down and every once in a while I "hit the wall."  I think the key thing is knowing this is a marathon I try to keep calm and conserve my energy for what might be around the bend.

    As far as this surgery goes.  I believe that this WILL be it! I believe in a merciful God and I am praying for some mercy on me (and my family).  So yes, I'm looking forward to this next surgery and trying to be as active as I can to prepare for the surgery.  And I'm trying to conserve my energy for what might be around the next bend in the road as well.

    Hope you will land on a LONG TERM remission!  Know it is possible!!!  And NEVER give up hope!!!

    Thank you for such an upbeat post.  I am feeling really good today and I'm increasing my activity daily in prep for this next surgery.  Tomorrow I have to prep for a colonoscopy on Wednesday.  The surgeon seems to be double and tripple checking for any new recurrence.  I do believe he would stop the surgery immediately if they found something.  He had my CEA tested again as well and luckily it continues on a downward trend.  I BELIEVE that the colonoscopy will be all clear (except for hemroids from bad constipation from this last round of chemo). And I BELIEVE that surger 7 will result in a Long Term remission!!!  How long term I'm not sure, but Lord willing, it will be a long long term!!!

    is good. Even Santa checks his list twice!  You're on my prayer list. I'll be thinking about you tomorrow. The prep is worst than the actual colonoscopy!

    Thank you Yolanda. Surgery is today in a few hours. I don't remember being this anxious with previous surgeries.
