Does anyone suffer from severe pain years after the Whipple?

Hi, I am from Taiwan,Asia.  One of my female friends has been suffering from severe abnominal pain after the Whipple.  She had the surgery four years ago, and the pain continues and is worsening.  She has consulted many doctors and there has been no improvement.

Does anyone have the same experience?  It will be highly appreciated if you could share your experience with us.

Thank you.

    pain issues

    Vivian,

I had stage 3 Pancreatic Cancer diagnoses and surgery in 2008.  While the Whipple surgery was a success.  I continue to have abdominal pains most every day.  Pain Levels can vary from mildly uncomfortable to so painful, I can only explain it as "someone grabing my insides with a pair of vice grips and tearing my insides apart."  With pains going clear up to my right shoulder!  The muscles in my abdomin where they cut tend to knot up also when this happens!   I lay across my bed on my stomach with my feet hanging off the side. To sort of help ease the pain, if possible, till the pain medicine (hydrocodone) has a chance to help mask or decrease the pain a bit.  Sometimes it works sometimes not.  Most days I can function part of the day as a normal person. As far as most people see me.

I have been told most of mine is due to scar tissue.

I know this might sound crazy but, I also notice it seems to get bad when the weather makes extreme changes.

I wish I could give your friend some good answers on a way to keep the pains from happening.
