Years ago (MY MOM died 8 yrs ago NOT cancer) my mom saw the same oncologist (regularly) I starting seeing after her death.

MY MOM had Platlet issues and saw and oncolgoirst , yet she never had cancer-Does anyhone know why she would see an oncoolgoist?

(she had heart pace maker, diabetic BUT NO cancer at all)

Just cruious if anyone knows why?

I never thought to ask way back -

    I think some oncologist also

I think some oncologist also specialize in hematology which deals with blood disorders. Perhap the dr she was seeing treated both cancer and blood disorders. Just conjecture on my part.

    Hello

My good friend's mother is seeing one right now.. same thing, she does not have , has never had cancer, but she has some blood issues. All I know is she is  suspectable to blood clots and I believe she is anemic and the shots she gets are B12 or something,  She goes regularly, maybe once a month..

    Oncologist*

An Oncologist deals with tumors........and some tumors are not cancerous...and we all know that tumors come in all sizes.   Maybe that is why ??

    I agree with Stef.

I agree with Stef.  Hermatology is probably the reason she saw an oncologist who deals with blood issues.

    disneyfan2008....

Someone I know saw an oncologist who as others have said is also a hemotologist. She had a blood disorder that was treated with chemo and eventually a bone marrow transplant. No cancer in her diagnosis as well.

    Most oncologists also specialize
in hemotology, which is the study of blood.
