Post meopausal bleeding

I have a question.  I was diagnosed with IDC hormon + Her2+ in November 2009.  I had 6 rounds of Chemo and 32 radiation treatments. My periods stopped after my 2nd chemo treatment and never came back until last month.  I was on Tomaxafin until about a year ago with no side effects.  They put my on the post menopausal drug and I have been on that for a little over a year.  I have had side effects with that one, joints aching etc.  I had a lumpectomy Dec 2010 and have had a Mamo every 6 months and an MRI once a year since the mamo never detected my breast cancer.  Not to be grafic, but when I started again it was really dark brown, never red.  They did a internal and external ultra sound on my pelvic region and saw nothing.  The tech said my Uterine lining was in the high normal range, my gyn wants me to come in for a biopsy.. endometrial biopsy. I am extremely nervous.... has anyone had this before?  I also took herceptin for a year.

    Did the bleeding stop?

    I had biopcy even I did have bleeding. It is not pleasant but double

    Did you bleeding stop? Did your gyncologist examine you? Pap and other test?

    My periods stopped when I started chemo, four years ago.  I am now 58.   I had two episodes, darkish then bright color.  Oncol said to my surprise, go to hospital, they did nothing.  Doctors said uterus lining thick but normal.  So I got second opinion at a very good gynacologist and had biopsy and a scan by a more accurate machine than the hospital had.  The bleeding was due to an unseen large polyps which covered two thirds of uterus............  Benign as nearly all are.  I had that removed.  He was furious the doctor said the lining thickening was normal for my age.  He biopsied lining to make sure nothing was happening under the surface.  All done, no problems now at all.

    not sure if the same...but I went through menopause prior to my cancer. I was on tamixfien for about 2 1/2 yrs and started to bleed-prior I had an intenral (NOT SURE of the name of test)  ultrasound to look for enloargement of uterus (followed by D & C each time-every 3-4 mths)

     

    I had to have total hysterectomy due to enloarged uterus. I con't the tamoxifen for 2+ more years. I have been off it one year this month...

    You can do it and it's important

    I had both breast and endometrial cancers at the same time. A "Double Whammy".   An endometrial biopsy is not painless, BUT (having had 3 of them in the past 10 years), if you take ibuprofen prior to the procedure, it really helps.  I was advised to do this 10 years ago by the gynecologist who did my biopsy then.  I had had them prior to becoming pregnant 100  years ago  and they were horrific.  Maybe they used a crowbar back in the day, it WAS a long long time ago.  I also had 2 vaginal deliveries long before the more recent biopsies so I imagine my cervix was a bit more cooperative than back in the day.  But there was indeed a night and day difference for me.  Anyway, I had 2 more as I had episodes of bleeding and an abnormal pap.  One was clear and then the last one came back positive for endometrial cancer and I had hysterectomy and lymph node dissection, etc.  After each of the last 2 biopsies, the gyn commented on how well I tolerated the procedure.  I told her about taking ibuprofen.  She seemed suprised.  You might want to ask your doc about doing that.  I didn't.  I just took them (I think 800 mg).  I don't like pain.   

    It's very important to know why you're having bleeding after so long.  Some gyns do a D & C (you get to sleep through that), but I always had biopsies.  I don't know why.  I didn't know any different.  That you've had breast cancer and have been on Tamoxifen increases your risk for developing endometrial cancer and if caught at an early stage and low grade, it can usually be cured by surgery alone.  Mine was.  But if you have endometrial cancer, it's simply gotta go, so you need to find out what's going on and the only know to do that is to get some cells and look at them, either by biopsy or D & C.
