sara, have missed you a while.  where have you been?  glad you are back.  i would think that since you were scoped and nothing was seen that the symptoms don't indicate something serious.  hope you feel better soon.

    Do the Acid reflux test

You should have the acid reflux test done. So many people have it and don't know they do. I never really got heartburn or anything, but I had very severe acid reflux and now it has gotten much worse. Coffee, cafine. milk, chocolate, and somany other foods can trigger it. Oh, don't sleep on your side if you have AR, it will make much worse. Best of luck with it.

Seems to me it would be easier just to take the reflux medicine for several weeks (3-6) than to take the test.  Probably more pleasant too.  There are lots of meds OTC.

When my son was a toddler, he had a bad cough.  Instead of testing for asthma, we did a course of asthma medicine.  Didn't help. Then a course of reflux meds - That did it.

So often reflux mimics allergies, either with a sore throat or a cough.  If its burning now, that could definitely be reflux.

I'm on Nexium right now after my laryngectomy.  Twice a day.  I think Ive had reflux once in the last few months since I'm eating real food.  I still through up often because of calcuim issues, or coughing, or whatever.  But, it doesn't hurt or burn my throat - THank Goodness!

not sure how it affects the throat.  A coworkers wife has had a sore throat for a year.  Last week they went to Mayo - but they said there there isn't anything odd going on, so this week they went back a GI in town.  The GI said - try - for 6 weeks - the acid reducer.  The doctor thinks it also affecting her sinuses.  Its a cheap test/fix if that is what it is.

sara, the acid in the reflux

sara, the acid in the reflux burns the throat and makes it hurt so that may be your problem.  i'd try otc meds like suggested above.  let us know if that works.

    good luck,

And, I think that is what my friends wife is going to be taking.  (I hope she started)

    Forgot

Sorry, forgot to say don't sleep on RIGHT side, only the left. When you sleep on the right the acid will drain down to your throat.

    why not

    why not take the test?

listen to the doc. i had no idea i had the problem for many many years until the doc thought i might have a problem. gave me some drugs and they worked.

btw. that happened at the same appointment after he scoped me.

    good luck
