On the road again...

Well folks, H&N Squamous part duex began today.  I had radical neck dissection on the left side with a thyroidectomy two weeks ago and today we started 18 weeks of chemo.  Three rounds of Carbo/tax/eributux and then 15 rounds of eributux alone.  We took a CT (from abdomen to neck) on Monday as a bench mark and nothing showed in the neck but lots of nodules/tumors in the lungs.  Doc said he thinks they are infectious (been aspirating like crazy since the surgery) BUT he also said he wouldn't be surprised if one or two was a cancer tumor.  We both agree that there's nothing to be done in respects of knowing for sure as I'm being treated exactly as he would if we had a positive finding.

While radiation would be indicated, both the tumor board and my RadOnc agree that the danger of re-radiating the same are now that the dissection has taken so much tissue is extreme for really bad damage to the throat resulting in quality of life issues that I'm just not willing to risk.

Another interesting development is that he has been approved to run a PD-1 trial and I am within the target audience.  If you haven't read any of the amazing articles on this revolutionary therapy please do so.  I'll let you know more if I'm accepted and we move forward.

Best To All,

Joe
