My mother's uterine cancer has recurred in her peritoneal cavity and I am just curious about other peritoneal cancer survivors on the board. It's a quiet board :( Is anyone still out there? I would love to know your stories

    Still here!

Don't know what's happened to everyone else, but I'm still here! Sadly, in recent months we have lost some of our most faithful contributors. But I'm quite sure others are still here too.

FYI, I've been recordings details of my treatment at www.CaringBridge.org/visit/CaroleSeaton

    Eagerly awaiting CA125 results from blood drawn yesterday . . . .

    Mass in Peritoneum

I had left sided abdominal pain after having uterine cancer (UPSC).  I had a CT scan and then a PET/CT scan which showed a mass on the other side in the peritoneum.  It was small and measured 1 cm. x 1.4 cm.  My CA-125 was the lowest it's been since I had surgery 4 years ago.  My gyn/onc is taking a wait and see approach to see if it grows.  He's not even sure if it's cancer.  I'm going to have another CT in Sept.  On Saturday, I started getting cramping abdominal pain, and I went to the bathroom several times in a row, which finally became diarrhea.  I had eaten out the day before (a spinach salad with several toppings) and I wondered if it was from that.  I'm still getting the cramping three days later.  I figure there's a chance it's viral, there's a chance it's from the diverticula they found in my CT scan (but I doubt that as I can usually eat anything) and I don't have a fever that I'd probably have it were diverticulitis, and there's a chance that it really is cancer.  Could you please tell me what your mother's symptoms were?  I've decided to wait a few days to see if it goes away before going to the doctor.  I doubt much can be done at this point.  He certainly won't do another scan so soon.  I may try a liquid diet that's recommended for diverticulitis and see if that helps.  Any info. you can give me would be much appreciated.

    Feeling better now

I'm feeling much better now.  I really think I had a GI bug and then I got a UTI on top of it.  My husband got the GI symptoms after I did.  I'm still interested in knowing the symptoms of peritoneal cancer, though-- I'm assuming abdominal pain but wondering what else to expect if I have metastasis to the peritoneum.

sorry for my slow reply. My

sorry for my slow reply. My mother's symptoms for her mestatis to the peritoneal cavity was pain and fluid (ascites) buildup. That's what got her to go to the ER. She would have breathing issues but that was from the fluid buildup taking up space in the abdomen. The main symptoms were fullness/bloating and pain all from the fluid that was accumulating.

    Ascites

Thanks for the answer.  I don't get on here frequently, so your slow reply wasn't a problem.  I haven't had any more symptoms.  The doctors say I don't have ascites, although to me, I think my belly looks like I do.  I've lost about 5 lbs. since my pain originally started, but my gut hasn't gotten any smaller.  It always looks bloated to me.

It's good to know what the symptoms are so I can keep a watch out for them.  I'll know if I have a problem in September when I have another CT scan or before if I get some of the symptoms you mention.  I wish your mother good luck with her treatments.

    Ascites symptom

If you had ascites, IMHO, you would be unable to eat more than a mouthful or two of food at a time. When I had ascites 2 yrs ago, I could eat about 2 bites of rice before my stomach was full. That was because all the fluid in the abdomen was compressing the stomach and other organs. So if you can eat anything approaching what's a normal amount of food for you, my uneducated guess would be that you don't have ascites. Sorry if I missed not being able to eat anything as one of your symptoms.
