It Never Gets Easier!

Hi Everyone,

Had my CAT Scan and Head MRI last Friday and I am doing just great.  I get my results on Monday, June 2.  I know I have been feeling really well and everything has been going really great for my husband and I.  We were at Ocean City for the car show a couple of weeks ago, my husband finally got to take his truck up there, and we had an amazing time.  Having said all that, the anxiety still shows its ugly little head and the nervousness comes back with a venegence!

Good or bad, we all handle the results that we have to.

Love and prayers for good health for us all!

    Welcome...

to being a survivor.  Cancer just never quite goes away, even in your mind.  But you learn to really enjoy the good times, and to appreciate the moments that are not so fantastic, just because you are there to partake.

We had one set of kids up for dinner.  Dinner was just average by my standards, but we enjoyed it.  The D-i-L sort of freaked out when the girls got my good china out to have our hot chocolate tea party and spilled it on the table cloth.  I said don't worry, I'm glad they are here to play tea party and I can enjoy it.  I can replace the piece of china (maybe) and buy a new tablecloth at Ross if the stain doesn't come out.

Priorities change, as you can tell.

    the waiting game

    Hi Brenda,

I too, am playing the waiting game.  For some reason, I'm not particularly worried this time.  Maybe it's a sign that all's well within me.  Or, I've just got other, more pressing things on my mind.  Granted, other than having had RCC, I'm not in the same boat as you.  Your anxiety is certainly understandable.  I will be praying for the best possible results for you, my friend.  June 2nd is a long time to wait.

I hope to have answers tomorrow.  I usually just get a verbal OK over the phone and then a day or two later, I get the results in the mail.   But you're right, we will handle whatever comes at us...like champs!!

I'm happy to hear you and hubby had such a great time at the car show and that you have been feeling so good.

Let us know the outcome of your results.

    anxiety

isn't unique to us. But our selection of anxiety is. Besides people on this forum, we probably don't know to many others who have to deal with this. It is usually pretty much the same. It is like being put in front of a firing squad. Maybe all the shooters have blanks, or maybe a few bullets have been slipped into the chambers. Maybe they are bad shots, maybe expert marksmen. We close our eyes when the command to fire is given. We open them as the smoke clears and we wonder how badly we have been hit. We do this time and time again. Like a re-occuring nightmare. No wonder we are never the same again. Each time we live through this, the process starts all over.

    Speaking of anxiety...

...You know whats been on my mind since I had my annual scan last week and once again was NED´ed?

Next year is my 5 year scan. If nothing shows up thats my last one. And now Im freakin starting to contemplate whether or not thats a good thing...

    "No more scanxiety...yeah!!!!"

"Hmmmm...that also means I most likely wont be caught early if something pops up in year 6 post neph...."

    "Non-scan scanxiety incoming!!!"

Fear of the fear-factor being absent. Christ, Im really tired of my mental wirings sometimes... :-)

    So Right!

    G,

I was originally diagnosed in August of 2011, I made it to Jan of 2013 being NED.  It was just a little over a year, 17 months to be exact.  It was Jan 2013, I had a lung infection (I was put in hospital), March 2013 they removed bottom 1/3 of my right lung (I was in hospital again), then in Nov 2013 I had the brain tumor removed (hospital again!).  So I have now been NED for just about 7 months.   I know my Doc is going to want me to go to every 6 months soon and that scares the hell out of me.  But when I see you are about to hit your 5 year mark (CONGRATULATIONS!) I can't even begin to think about going every year!  I also would be worrying about "Non-scan scanxiety", but I would worry with a huge smile on my face! :)

G, "Be Happy, Don't Worry" (at least try!)

                                              Congrats again!
