Do you think A Good E.N.T Can have an idea whats going on with you By scoping and looking at your Throat

    definitely, that's how my ent

    definitely, that's how my ent saw something and did a biopsy and found the cancer.  good luck.

    Of course!

    Other than feeling changes in your body you notice yourself, the ENT is a first line of defense. I finished TX for a tumor near my epiglottis 2 years ago and had a nasal endoscopy done every 60 days. Now I have been switched to once a quarter. This in addition to CT and PET pictures rotating every 6 months.

    That is good to know..........hope its nothing serious but if it is at least he can detect something........................Hoping for post nasal drip lol...........................

    Yes

    It was our local ENT who found my husband's laryngeal cancer.  He did the scope and then a biopsy to confirm what he was seeing, also a CT scan with contrast was done.  Then after treatment, it was his partner that found the cancer had returned and then referred us to a head and neck specialist because he told us this was the best way to go.

    We had used this ENT for our children when they were growing up so we knew him and knew he was good.

    I went to my ENT immediately after the lump on my neck appeared.  He scoped me and found the ulcer on my tongue (I knew nothing).  A needle biopsy of the lump and I was off and running.

    So yes, a good ENT is a good start.  I really had no idea I was sick, I felt fine.

    I have been to him before I thought I would skip going to my gp and straight to the ent ..................How bad can that be lol........He seems to be pretty good .........I just hope he can give some Idea of whats going on i do have a lot of mucus but all clear so not sure I am worried of course....i also find it strange only one side of my nose is runny and that same side of throat is sore to......... I was reading your post how are you doing...............................

    My ENT told me...

    that he'd see something amiss long before a scan would.....don't know if that's because he sees me every month, and scans are only every 6 months or so.....or because he's actually looking for changes.  But I trust him implicitly.

    Worst Case

    One good thing out of all this is that I am going in with  No suprises So I will be prepared and not shocked .................what ever the outcome is.....................................

    Definately

    I think my ENT knew when he first scoped my throat and saw my right tonsil  he knew what my issue was, did a fine needle aspiration of the small lump under my jaw line and sent me for the initial PET scan ...that provided the diagnosis and referral to my oncologist.

    Some not all

    My first claimed I had acid reflux. My second ENT broke the news that I had cancer. I hated the news but like the doctor. Thats why they call it a practice.

     

    I don't wish those words ( you have cancer) on my worst enemy.

    Sara,

    After many weeks of dealing with my GP when I was first having symptoms, I went to see an ENT.

    On the first visit (Friday Jan2, 2009), he scoped me, sent me right down for a CT, had me come back to his office after. He told me right then that he was 95% sure that I had SCC Tonsil Cancer, and more than likely HPV as I wasn't a smoker. HPV was rarely mentioned back then.

    He scheduled me for that following Monday for surgey to remove the tonsils. He did a quick biopsy, determined it was SCC, and since I had a tumor on the same side, STGIII..., a few weeks later the tissue was confirmed HPV.

    He was and has been 100% on the mark...

    Hi Sara

    U better know it, a good ENT can be the different between life & death to someone like me. I just did a scoping yesterday and my ENT found I have a hole in my upper palate; she has no idea why because it was not there 3 months ago but she is monitoring it and took pictures. This is my 7th ENT as I fired the first 6 because I had no faith in them. To me I trust what she tells me and so far for the past 3 years she has been the best ENT I ever had. She is also the only one who will sit down after she is finish her scoping and just talk with me, and I like that part where she take the time to see if i have any questions she can answer.
