in Lymphoma (Hodgkin and Non-Hodgkin) #1

So my daughter has to have a Stem cell transplant. We will be traveling quite a distance next week and moving there for a few months. She has to meet with her hematologist to discuss the process. She had hodgkins and it has showed it's ugly head again. it is very  small unlike the last time it was quite large. Can someone give me some information as of what to expect with regards to the name of the treatment and the time frame that this whole process takes. I think it's chemo prior to the harvesting of cells.  She already had about half enough cells in storage from when she was first diagnosed.

    I feel for you, that is nothing a parent wants to hear.  There have been some who have gone through an SCT, or at least know a lot about them.  Hopefully they will post some help for you.  I wish your daughter the best, many have been very successful and she has age on her side.  I know we all wish you comfort and support.  They know a lot about SCTs now and they are not as ominous it doesn't seem.

    I'm sorry to hear about your daughter's relapse.  Though I don't have personal experience with SCT, many here have and hopefully someone will chime in soon.  From what I recall, a heavy cycle of chemo will be involved and thereafter stem cells will be transplanted.  There will be a period for the new stem cells to grow/do their job.  She will be somewhat isolated during most of this until her immune system starts to recover.  I'll see if I can find more online and provide you link(s).

    You guys will be in my thoughts.

    Hi,

    I am so sorry to hear your daughters cancer has come back. I will leave SCT advice/info to those that have done it. It sounds like you have a rough road ahead of you, especially with moving to where the procedure will be done. I just made a big move, so I know how hard it is. My prayers are with you and your dear daughter. Love Sue

    The first chemo is finished

    The first chemo is finished and no real issues so far. Neupogen for five days then it's on to the stem cell collection.

    The first chemo is done with

    The first chemo is done with no major issues, and today the stem cells were harvested.  They got enough stem cells the first try!! The next chemo will be Tuesday.  Hopefully everything  continues to go well.

    I am glad to hear your daughter's first chemo went well. And that is fantastic news enough stem cells were collected on the first try! I am thinking of you both today and I too hope all continues to go well.
