Just seen some comments(tongue in cheek) about the UK weather, it's been really warm for the time of the year for a while now, in fact the tempertures have been above average for a couple of months. I sat in the sun today until I got too hot and had to come inside. I had my big brim sun hat on. I live in the south so weather is warmer here. My favourite time of the year is Spring. I know I mustn't get my neck in the sun but thought the rest of me was Ok with sun cream on. We do get high temperatures in summer last year we had some days in the nineties. We don't get the humidity like Florida. We have some lovely beaches and in Cornwall I've seen the sea clear and turquoise. Oxford is a great place to visit with colleges with spires and I love London with the gardens and parks. I haven't visited Guzzles part of the country but have been to the Lake District which has great scenery with mountainous hills and lakes. We may be a little country but we are well worth a visit. Cornwall has quaint fishing villages ( anyone seen Doc Martin) I sound like a travel brochure but I know we get teased a lot so thought I'd set the record straight.

Love Doc Martin

Love Doc Martin! I believe that my greatgrandparents were from Cornwall. Love pasties, the ones that my mom and grandmother made. I'm no good at pastry dough, my daughter surprised me last year and made them for me. She did a great job.

Another Doc Martin lover here

Also love Cornish Pasty my grandmother used to make. I have her recipe in her handwriting which I treasure. I am not good at crust either so I cheat and use the refrigerated ready made pie crust.

Enjoy the nice weather you are having and the sun with your neck covered.

Jack Flash, I was teasing about weather! UK is lovely. I love the lakes and Wales. A LOT of diversity in a small space. Ladies did you know pasties were invented to be wrapped in cloth and dropped down holes in tin mines by the wives of hungry miners!

Another Place

Forgot to say I live on the Sefton coast between Liverpool and Southport. If you google another place Crosby beach there is a permanent Anthony Gormley sculpture there for you to look at. Formby point red squirrel reserve is nearby. Ive just been up there on my bike and the weather was lovely with a nice breeze of the Irish Sea. We can be in the Snowdonia national park or south lake district in little over an hour. The UK is small. Cornwall is lovely though and had its own Celtic language. If your family stems from there you should visit!

Hi Jackie

Wow I would love to visit where you live. I am headed home next month to Utila it is a small island of the cost of Honduras, my brother has a botanical garden there. I love it because all the fruit can be eating right off the tree with no worries of Pesticides or Herbicides being sprayed on them. I also enjoy sitting by the beaches or just some spot alone by myself where I can pray and be with God thanking Him for His beautiful creation. It is to me heaven on earth and I love being there, my hope is to move back someday soon. All the best to you in your travels and so glad to see you doing so well

Knew

I knew about pasties being made for miners. Tin! I always thought it was coal. Would love to visit, the flight is what stops me, I am in California.

Just looked at Utila it looks like paradise! KT Cornwall was a big tin mining community in the past. The north of England and Wales mined coal. Tin is nearer the surface. Even the most well made pasty would be lucky to survive a drop to the bottom of a coal mine. As I start week 2 I think my throat is starting to get sore so it may be some time until I get to enjoy one again! The flight is a problem! Its like flying to the east coast twice! And then about four hours drive or train ride to Cornwall. Most US visitors tour for a bit. We also tend to get more visitors from the East Coast. So if you come spend a bit of time here!

Guzzle, read in paper today we are in for a heat wave halfway through this month into June fingers crossed. I'm pleased to read your progress through treatment hope you get through without much trouble. I was lucky I got very little neck burn and no mouth ulcers. I rinsed honey around my mouth while on rads, we all got our foibles.

Have been looking at weather charts...

For my weather forecasts (I own a website and do daily weather forecast videos for the UK) and I can't see much sign of a heatwave, YET!

However, I do think second half of May could be good (not sure about a heatwave, but I think it'll be better than first half)
