Good luck Ron,

Coincidentally, I thought of you as I was getting my motorcycle ready for a bath and an oil change.  It looks similar to the one in your avatar on this site.

It's a 2003 Triumph Speed Four.

Great attitude Ron~

Seems you got your "sexy" on today..brings me a smile!

You have a wonderful outlook. So here's wishing for the BEST!

Can't you get a copy of your report sooner than hearing from the doctor?

Or don't you want to know ahead of time?

Sending you continued wellness, with love,

Jan

Let's see.. some good news today... saw my Cardio Doc.. she was very pleased and took me off of Amlodipine... my blood pressure is plenty low..  I told her about my Patient Advocate exploits and she beamed..!  She stated they just do not have any patients or advocates at Cardio conventions, just vendors trying to sell their wares...  So it was a good day there....

Had a big dinner with about 80 people... over half are college co-eds.....  What a great day indeed..!!

Hey Ron,

I know you don't have results back yet but just wanted to send some good juju your way.  I hope you had a super cute nurse doing the poking last week, I know how you like cute nurses!

Glad to hear your appt with cardio doc went well.  No more hbp meds...that's fantastic!  I noticed your cardio doc is a woman.  Do you seek women doctors out?  Just curious if being female is a criteria one must meet before putting their hands on you. Kiss  hehehehe

Anyway, let us know as soon as you know.  Until then, I send you good juju.

Sindy

Sindy.. you are one cute and funny lady..!  My Pulmonary Doc is a male, and he is the one that referred my to my female Cardio Doc..   My Onc is another woman, but she is one of the best...  She is my Doc because of her skills...  And the nurses, well, I take what I can get..!  Most are women and they all are cute to me..! (to me caring is also cute..).   So, I guess I just continue to get lucky and get some awesome medical staff, most of which are women..!  Now as far as any of them getting their hands on me.. well... wishful thinking..!  Tongue Out

All that said... you are one special young lady around here..  and I really appreciate all the good juju as well..!!  Please keep smiling..!

Ron, you are a sweetheart!

I love that you think caring is a cuteness.  So often it seems, if you aren't a blonde bombshell or built like a brick house, you're not given the time of day, so, it's a breath of fresh air to hear a man say "caring is cute".  Just made my day!

Hey Ron! Have you gotten your results back yet? Feeling very positive on my end!  Let us know soon as you know! LOL

On a good note. Mom had her scans last week and we were pretty worried because she isn't feeling too good. Her scans were good. The one node she has is stable. And this time they even noted that it might be benign. Does that then make her NED? Who knows...  We see her onc on Thrusday so will ask.  All this and she is still on 200 mgs of Votrient. So all of those who want to know if the low dose does indeed work? Yes it does.

DJinnie.. a note to you... if 400 mgs still gives you bad side affects, let them know my mom has been on 200 mgs for 16 months and it is still giving good results and the side affects are tolerable....

Ron, I was going to send you some pretty nurses but our on top of it and caring gal, Alex, beat me to it!  :)

Oh you "guys"...!!  Now I am the one blushing..!   Yes, I was a tad dissappointed that there was no additional shinkage.. and yes two Lymph nodes had minor growth...  but my main Oncologist only spent a few minutes... yes Inlta is still working.. no, no need to escalate the doseage,, see me is 6 weeks.. go home and be happy.. all is good...  Of course the other doctor did a thorough check up... breathing normal, no nasty anything to be found...

Actually, the Pizza will wait a few days... but it WILL happen...

Thank you all..!!

This just made my day, Ron!

I am so happy to hear your good news.  I'll keep the good juju flowing and maybe, just maybe, in 6 weeks you'll have that shrinkage.

And what a treat to be serenaded by the beautiful and talented fox and Alexandra!  Life is GOOD!!

Way to go Ron, Ron, Ron!  Way to go Ron, Ron, Ron!

I think those scans are very good! I may be wrong but I did read that Inlyta sometimes the first scan doesn't project much. Stable is great, NO NEW METS is even better!  Minor growth, as I was told could be an error in calculation and they allow for a small amount.  And you feel pretty good which is nice!  I am betting the next set of scans will be even better!

He sat on his bike and he took a ride

Dat be Ron, Ron, Dat be Ron, Ron!

He got good scan results, that are bonafide

Dat be Ron, Ron, Dat be Ron, Ron!

Keep up the good work Ron, and with that attitude, all the nurse are going to be a bomb! It all depends on how you see them!

Thanks for the good words Fox, Ron and others.. let's keep the Karma going...

Thanks again all..!!  I guess I should give the rest of the story...  True no growth or shrinkage in the Mets.. but two Lymph Nodes did grow slightly.. 2 and 4 MM respectively.. not a big leap in size.. My Doctor is not concerned.. of course not.. she is not the one with Cancer..  And true it is not much.. still tons better than the alternative.. Still I was really hoping for more shrinkage.   Then the weight issue.. I knew I would get a stern talking to..  I lost another 8 pounds..  I am now down over 50 pounds post surgery... still in reality my weight is good.. but the fact that I keep losing weight is not good.  Sorry to those that would like to lose weight...   I am eating a LOT of food.. so it is not staying with me...  I was advised to step up the Immodium and to add more fiber to my diet.  I like the fiber idea more.. but will do both initially.  And I think I will have a big steak... add some more fat to the diet... just a little bit more...  next week, Pizza and beer..!!

I can not tell you how much I appreciate you all... and of course the staff at Stanford.. they treat me like a King..!!

Hang in there everyone..!!  We are a team.. and we all fight together...

Ron,

So glad to hear your news is mostly good.  I will mention one thing on the weight loss though it is a long shot.  Has your doctor checked your thyroid?  My Oncologist only checks specific things in my bloodwork which does not include thyroid function.  It was from my annual physical with my GP that we found I was hyperthyroid which can cause weight loss even when you eat more.  They would need to check your TSH, T3, and T4.  It would be a shame to assume it is the cancer or treatment if it turned out to be unrelated.

Ron,

Just curious, is there a reason your oncologist didn't consider increasing the dosage? You're at 5mg 2x day, right?

At least you have the option to increase the dose.

Ron!  Congratulations on the great results.  I think you should indeed celebrate and enjoy a few more calories!

David, that's a good question about the dosage of Inlyta.  I'm curious about that too.  David let us know how your scans turn out.  My husband had his today.  It's been a very long day.  Results next Tuesday.  1 year on Inlyta with fantastic results so far.

Ron, about the weight loss.. my mom keeps losing as well. But when you have constant runs it doesn't let you gain weight.  She is taking Glucerna now and her weight is pretty stable. She doesn't eat much because she is always full. She tends to have concurrent UTI's. Has anyone else had this issue? I was going to ask if you can try "Boost", it will give you extra calories. Others make a big shake out of it and add lots of calories to it.  Any little bit will help.

On the scan before last mom had a small growth of 2mm on her node, which they say was insignificant. This scan it was stable and was the size of the previous scan. The doc said that nodes get bigger in size if you are fighting a cold, which she did have.  It is kind of hard to tell with nodes. But your scan was pretty good and the doctor was happy, and so am I.

Thanks again everyone..!!  Yes we did talk about controlling the diarrhea...   So, I am making more changes to try and help that.. increase the Immodium and add more fiber... perhaps eating cardboard will help...j/k.

Later... got to work on the race bike again..!

Ron:

is the 50 pounds your total weight loss since nephrectomy and how has it been between scans?

does your doctor have any other thoughts than diarrhea?

If the doc is not concerned and this is someone you really trust at one of the best places treating renal cancer, maybe it is simply adjustment to age, treatment and nephrectomy.

one would think that losing 50 pounds is sufficient for alarm BUT your doc's lack of concern is worth considering.

SAarah.. guess it needs to be in context..  This is over 2 plus years now.  I lost a lot of it in the hospital.. I had a very large tumor plus the Kidney...  I lost another 20 plus pounds since.. some due to the added exercize, some due to mostly Votrient, and now Inlyta.  Yes my doctor is concerned, but I am still above my "fighting" weight.  The main issue we think is the diarrhea, and I am on a modified regimen to help with that.. so far so good..    At this point I am not worried... I am somewhat active and feel pretty darn good lately..!

Thanks..

just read some posts on smart patient about Inylta and some have experienced weight loss.

that may be why your doc isn't too concerned.

Your weight loss seems to have some benign possibilities.
