It should continue to be a good year for me. Latest blood work is excellent. Brain scan showed nothing but rocks in my head. (but don't ever take it for granite.) Chest, ab, and pelvis show a couple small stable nodes. Everything else is sclerotic and unchanged. I'm a happy boy. I have come a long way and am so grateful to my doctor and Yale-New Haven. I still get zometa every 6 weeks but except for my Il-2 treatments, in july and october, I have not had any other treatments or drugs since last June. Lets hear it for immunotherapy! We are going to stay the course. Rescan in 12 weeks. Life is GOOD!! Pizza and beer anyone?

Oh Happy Day!!  What wonderful news, fox!

There aren't enough words to sum up what an inspiration you are to me.  Your positive outlook (coupled with your humor) has had a positive effect on me and I thank you for that.  I couldn't be happier for your good news!

I think pizza and beer are what's for supper.  I'll raise my bottle to you and Djinnie and Jojo, for all of you have recent good reports to celebrate.

Cheers!

I think you are the inspiration for many. You pushed when so many times when you were told no. You are on top of your game. You will be where I am in another year or so. There is just so much adversity in the way. It's all about moving forward regardless of the obstacles. Look at the UCONN men. That is belief in reaching the goal.

we can ask for, right strongmind? I reminded my Doctor that when we first met, she said to me," If we can't cure you, would you be happy if we kept you stable?" She says, "I said that?" Then she gave me my hug. What a great woman.

What amazing news Fox, you have worked bloody hard for it! You serve to inspire the rest of the team!I am so excited for you:) if you are offerring pizza, I'm in, especially if it's a Chicargo Pizza, not so keen on the beer but a glass of St. Emillion will do nicely, CHEERS!

Djinnie xx

You need a new name. Like Jacque, the supporter. I hope the Karma rubs off on you. I shoot you some everyday. And since I poured you a beer, and I wouldn't want to throw it out, and no one else is here, and I am thirsty, and ....

More importantly, you get better.

On a related note, how long after your surgery before you had a glass of wine or a bottle beer? I'm nearly a month out but still afraid to indulge. And I'd love to toast Fox with a glass of wine tonight Smile

APny,

Unless you have a drinking problem or other issues this would be a good time for that first post surgical drink. Remeber a (singular) drink.

APny,

Coincidentally, I asked my surgeon that when I was getting my staples out on Saint Patrick's Day.  I was at that point in time 11 days post surgery, and my surgeon said to go ahead and have a couple beers.

I've done nothing that can't be done by all. If anything, it is the return Karma for having been good to so many people for a long time. And there is PLENTY of Karma to share.

It's all the luck of the draw. Even if sometimes we have to draw a few times. I guess you don't need all aces to win a hand once in a while.

I am not NED. Probably will never happen. But this is close. Every other day or so, I just crash out. I still get so tired. I need my naps. But I don't mind. It has become a good excuse for being lazy when I need it. Like anything, as more experience builds, there becomes a comfort level that comes with it. I think about cancer all the time just like everyone else does. But I can do it with optimism. I guess we celebrate the little victories and appreciate them. We do this together. I think about my early initiation and don't remember having someone I could look at with hope. It was scarey. If my progress gives hope to others, I could not be happier.

Share the pizza and beer!...and the Karma too!

What you said about thinking about cancer but "I can do it with optism" is how my life has changed since coming to this forum. Thank you for the hope you bring to us caretakers. I am very grateful. I will share the pizza (but not the beer. Mine, all mine!!)

My hip still hurts a lot.  Still on pain meds.  My primary care doc got me an appt with an ortho doc May 27th that comes highly recommended as he does really good work on hips and joints.  He wants all my scans and told my doc he really wanted my pet scan also.  The other doc I seen wasnt interested in pet scan.  So maybe he can help me.  I have a limp and I cant take my right foot to go up a step because it just want work .  But the tendon was torn at its point of insertion.  So we will see.  Thanks for asking.

Practice, practice, practice. I've repeated this story often. Back when I was about 18-20, I made a decision to avoid negativism. When asked, "How are you?" So many people say, "Not bad." I think "Gee, I wish things were worse for you. Then maybe you'd be happy." I never, never, never respond not bad. I always say "Excellent" or "wonderful" or "outstanding" or "awesome". Something of the such. It sets the tone for maintaining enthusiasm. Just do it. Repetition creates the norm and an expected outcome. UCONN men just proved it. Coach Kevin Ollie does this better than anyone. So, when someone asks how I am, and I answer "Great", I reciprocate and ask them how they are. If I get a response of "Great", I say "Good for us!" It's amazing the positive energy that gets created. They always smile, laugh, or their faces lighten up with a feel good look. It is as if they have never experienced such an affirmative interaction. Blows my mind every time. And I do this every day. Its free and its easy...I have to admit that I may not have felt so enthusiastic during my Il-2 treatments. But I deserved some slack on that one.

yes, Fox, I think you deserve some slack and then some, for your IL2 Treatment; having not just the physical side during treatment, the recovery but psychotic episodes most clearly qualifies you for slack.

Not that you ever had any doubts (at least that you would admit too LOL) this is great news. Cold beer and pizza is soul food.  In fact I consider pizza a food group all to its self. Very best congrats.  I would send you a local microbrew...we have some particularly nice ones here in Nuevo Mexico, but as it would get warm on the way I suggest you hop on your bike and come on down.  My treat on the beer.
