Hi all. I've been on this site since 2010 after my wife was diagnosed with CC in 2009. After three years of treatments she passed peacefully last year. Now my brother has been diagnosed with Liver cancer. I just hope that my caregiver experience with my wife will help them through this time.

I remember you from the colon cancer board.  I, too, lost my husband to colon cancer on October 29, 2012, he was diagnosed March, 2009.  You have my condolences on the loss of your wife, I know how difficult it is.

There is a web site, beatlivertumors.org.  That site should be very helpful to you.  Treating liver cancer may be different than colon cancer.  I don't know if the chemo drugs are the same though.

As for helping your brother, just do what needs to be done, just like you did with your wife.  Let him know you are there for whatever his needs may be.   It may be just getting him out for a dinner, listening to his fears and worries and offering comfort as best you can.  Let him talk if he needs to.  I know my hubby was sick of talking about cancer so a night out without any cancer talk may be just the ticket also.As caregivers we just do the best we can, it is a difficult road we travel, for we care so very much and try so very much but so much is just out of our hands.

Take care - Tina

Thanks Tina. I am going home (I live in another state) to see him this weekend, and getting him out of the house is a great idea.
