Happy Thanksgiving!!! 10 years NED

Hi everyone,

10 years ago I was on TPN - IV nutrition for my chemo induced diarrhea.  I remember eating 2 bites of turkey and spending the afternoon in the bathroom and crying all at the same time while at my sister in laws for Thanksgiving.  Now I am spending the day at my sons house tomorrow --his wife is due with their first baby tomorrow.  We cant wait.  My son was in high school when I was diagnosed. I also have a daughter who was in college when i was diagnosed--she is also married and has a 2 year old and a 5 month old.  My other son is 25--he was only 14 when i started this nightmare.  This board helped me so much.  I am now writing this to give others hope.  I did not have any easy road--there was radiation, chemo, 3 belly surgeries, many bowel obstructions--13 hospitalizations.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Maureen

Congratulations on ten. It sure is not easy getting that far down the road. My doctor gave me a funny look the other day and said " you know you are really quite resilient ".Yup. ,keep on keeping on. Hugs Ron.

    still fighting

Hello, this is my first post. I just joined this site.

I was Dx 9/14/11 with stage 4 colon cancer. I am still fighting with mats to my right lung. Your post was very very encouraging and our circumstances are almost identical. I have a 22 year old son who has a 2 year old son, my grandson.  I spend a lot of time in a state just like you described - in fact, I also ate about two bites of turkey yesterday and spent the rest of the day, worried and frightened, as usual. Over two years is a long time to live in this kind of fear. Your post lifted me up a lot.  Thank you so much,

So happy you have shared your survival story

You really do give us all hope.

I too am stage 3 with one lymph node, and I am constantly aware of reoccurance which of course scares me.

Your story, although it hasn't been a smooth run, really gives me hope and confidence.

Do you follow a strict or special diet? I know I should eat better, but I enjoy food and have just got back into eating like I did before my diagnosis .
