Radiation DONE!

Hi all,  I haven't been on in a few weeks.  Finsished radiation two weeks ago and took a little sabbatical.  I made it through!!!  Overall I believe I beat the odds.  I have to send out a huge thank you to Sandy, Rob's wife And to phrannie51. Phrannie had recommendEd Mugard and Sandy was extremely generous in helping me out with that.  I can't express how much I believe this product helped my mouth during the process.  I will say it was truly a life saver and you both were angels in that process of delicery. Along with all of you and your support with encouraging words and life experiences dealing with radiation I definitely took this time in my life on fully facing with Faith I could do this.  it's been conquered and now time to heal.

For those moving forward with radilation or in the middle of it...know by keeping the faith you also can beat this.  It is surely mind over the matter and a lot of lovin from those around you in the midst of it.  A compasionate  radiation team and doctor were huge for me.  I was so blessed to be embraced as I was by my team.  Rest was a new normal for me because I go like a freight train LOL but I am now very thankful for my season of stillness.  I learned so much about myself. God has always been my pilot, during this journey the past four months, to be able to grab on to his wings and soar I am so humbled and grateful for his grace He poured through me.  Phil 4:13 has always been my life verse and it came "TO LIFE" for me as I went through all of this.  He is for ever Faithful.

As I journey on, I know there will be more CT's and testing. FroM readng everyones post this process of healing does not really end when the treatments do.  My mouth is 95% feeling so much better.  Still unable to eat any form of spice or hot temuraterred foods.  A little sensitivity still to gums.  Overall taste is back to being mostly normal.  No more metallic taste thankfully.  Humoruosly finding myself not really enjoying the food use to love.  My skin seemed to do fine during treatments then blew up full force this past tuesday.  Bam.,,it got me...dang it!  I've been on a steroid cream, antibiotics and silver sulfadiazine along with an oral steroid.  Today, being five days out I am almost back to where I had been last Tuesday shy of the peeling.  Hoping everything now will begin to slowly fade and I can get my immune system built back up also.  Any feedback that you may have found that helped you post rad would be greatly appreciated.

Be Blessed Yall,

Here is to each of us a Life full of Hope, Love and Happy,

Christie

Wahoo! It's good to have the hardest part in your rearview mirror. Sounds like you faired rather well. Like you, my neck and cheek did not turn brown and peel until post tx. but mine never hurt. About 3 weeks post, I lost the 3" of hair ear to ear at the nap of my neck but it grew back. I had thrush post tx but otherwise started to see improvement as soon as tx finished.  Glad your journey has been easier than you anticipated.

    God bless,

    Candi

    WHOO HOO Christie!!

The end of rads was one of the real high points for me....I loved not having to get up and dressed to go somewhere every single day.  I love your attitude, too....and the fact that you have you expectations on the healing process in check....yes it does take a while to come back full force, but you sound like you have made a great start!

    finished with rads

    Christie,

Congratulations on finishing and doing well.  I will have to wait till tomorrow to ring my bell for you (it is dark).

The neck burn was the worst pain of my treatment, with the Silver Sulfadiazine cream one of my favorite “go to” treatments.

Take care, set your watch on slow and heal to your heart’s content.

    Best always

    Matt

Thanks for the words of wisdom..slow and steady wins everytime!

    Hi Christie

Glad to hear you are doing so well now that you passed the finish line. We all need a Sabbatical I get one each week and boy I really need it to help keep me going. God is so good to all who put their faith in Him, each day we get a new revelation of His diving love for His children in how He leads us through this world of sin. Satan may try and attack us like he did to Job; he can try and destroy our faith in our God but it is by faith that we will overcome. There is still some ups and down that we may go through in this life but I know someday that my God will give me a new body that will never have cancer or the side effect of cancer treatment again.  God bless and keep you in His tender care and you continue to put your faith in Him.

    Take care
