My computer or this site?

Am I the only one who has been fighting getting in here the last 3 days?  I tend to blame my computer more often than not, but it's not having problems at any other sites....and....it may be my provider, too.....they've been known to have problems with optic-fiber lines and say nothing nor notify a soul of what's going on.

Hi Phrannie -- I too have been having difficulties.  Things take forever to open.  I click and then go somewhere else until it finally opens.  Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn'.t  Right now it is moving around very well.

Hiya,

If you want to know if it is CSN or your Internet connection in general is just visit a few other sites you typically go to. Things like gmail can indicate if your connection is slow or now. In this case, it is like the Xmas present we got and CSN is really slowed down again. No sense in raising it as it surely did not do much last time. Those in the know, know what is going on and don't even bother to post a general notice stating there is an issue and it is being worked. Worse, I guess, is they are not aware of the slowdown, so what good would come of informing someone that is already asleep at the wheel. done. don

It's the site, not sure what's going on...

I tried to reach Greta, but haven't had much luck yet...

I'll post up as soon as I hear something back.

I have had issues the last 3 or 4 days also.   Sent in at least two "having issues with site" notices and have not heard anything back either.

I would assume they (whoever "they" are) are already aware of it.

who follows the "misery loves company" way of being....but I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one.  Once signed in, I don't seem to have as big of a problem, but signing in today was an hour long process.  I finally was able to sign in on the "Public Content Search"...then another long wait on getting into the Discussion Boards.

I was beginning to wonder, but with 'Chemo Brain' I forget soon also!

Guess we are in another group together, Matt will have to come up with a name for it.

I've seen this many times over the years. I just figured somebody spilled the molasses in their system again.  LOL

Frustrating not being able to connect with your family.

Dearest Phrannie,

I don’t know if it is Greta, Skiffin, DonFoo (me once). The big moon, the IRS or NSA, but it is something.  The only thing slower is waiting for a contact through the (H&N) super-secret spreadsheet which Vivian and John cobbled together.  I feel like Batman waiting for the signal.

I might be able to come up with a name for this, as suggested or better yet a Country Song.

“My mouth went dry while waiting for you”

“I rang the bell and nobody knew”

“Misery loves company, but only at high speed”

“I switched browsers and my caretaker switched my trousers”

“chemo brain, old computer, senior moment and the HPV blues”

“I moan alone”

Stop me please!  This is all a test to see how well we respond to the stress of not logging on to our favorite H&N site.  I for one have taken this “butt time” delay to go out in the backyard and picked more berries (you gotta keep stimulating the taste buds) and I hope each of you are doing well.

Matt

we could count on you!  Berries this summer, I remember you passed up that part of summer last year.  Save some for me, we will be going to Mt. Hood and probably Portland at the end of July.  I love berries.

I just got back from a berry picking, or should I say berry eating excursion.  Last summer all that got through the “Ultimate Taste Bud Shut-Down” was sweet corn and tomatoes.  Wait. That isn’t entirely true; I did devour about 50 pounds of Blue Berries in my life sustaining Smoothies, but Marion Berries went to my wife (lucky gal).

My H&N powers tell me you are feeling OK, I hope that is correct.

Back on line,

Matt

Those look delicious....

Sorry on the spreadsheet Matt (and others)...

As we originally made it for Viviian I totally forgot to send out the final version...

I will do that tomorrow as it's on my work puter...

I never heard anything back from Greta, and I know she is having some of her own personal health issues. But I did send her an email, and not sure, but today the site seems to be working good...

One hour and 20 minutes to sign in this morning....got the dogs walked, breakfast made, and a shower done while I waited.....

The strange thing is.....once signed in, the site isn't all that bad.....it's the getting in that is screwed up.

You are right, signing in seems to be the delay....

I finally got some news from Greta and she has communicated with her IT people... Not sure what they have in place, but the problem seems to be a the same each time... Tons and tons of SPAM attacks, mainly from non-US attackers.

Not sure why this site is targeted so hard, or if it's an idustry thing and this site just isn't up to speed protection wise... LOL..., well we know it's not "Up to Speed"

Best,

John

Unfortunately, spammers have once again targeted CSN. There have been almost continuous bot attacks on CSN, some so severe as to cause the site to go down (which is their goal). Our IT team has been searching for and adding more security measures the last 4-5 days--night, day and through the weekend. Apparently, because we're an online community, have a high volume of visitors and have been the target of major attacks in the past, we are at high risk for future attacks. The IT team has a game plan to avert most of the attacks but I'm not sure of the timeline for completion. Very soon I should think.

As for people using CSN private messages to spam/scam you... If you get weird email that doesn't feel right or make any sense, please let me know immediately. Send me a CSN pm with the username of the person and the nature of their letter. In addition, you can post it on the board to give others a heads up. We've had men looking for women, women looking for men, people asking for money or other help, selling products and services, promoting themselves/their business, researchers recruiting subjects for studies, journalists wanting to interview you, media people enticing you to be in a film/documentary, trying to convert you to follow them in whatever they are doing or believe in, etc. CSN prohibits the use of its site for solicitation of any kind.

Best,
Greta

If I could sign on I would also attest to not being able to sign on. I would tell Phrannie I also took a  shower and that didn't help, so now I sit crying the blues like Matt. I wish I could sign on so I could tell Matt those are some fine looking berries and if he wants to get back into ice cream eating shape we should hook up. With my ice cream churner and his berries we can certainly have one heck of a smorgasbord.

If only I could sign on......................maybe if I swear and cuss......................Naaaa the wife always says that does nothing...........I'll just sit and wait.
