Pink Bus this Tuesday for my Sister?

This sounds like a very difficult decision and I pray that this procedure gives her peace of mind in the future.  My prayers go out to her for a peaceful and calm spirit, and quick recovery.

Of course I'll be there.  I wish your sister did not have to have the B/L mastectomy,  but if she can lesson her chances of getting this dreaded disease then she should do it.  She will be in my prayers and I hope she makes a speedy recovery.

We indeed have a complex family history.  I have 5 siblings and 4 have had cancer (3 sisters with breast; brother with thyroid).  My dad had colon cancer and a colostomy.  His brother died of colon cancer.  His youngest brother has had precancerous colon polyps and numerous colonoscopies (which have saved him).

My dad did not have sisters but his mother had 4 sisters.  His mother (my paternal grandmother) died of breast cancer.  All of her sisters had breast cancer; one also had colon cancer.  All of them but one died of breast cancer.  The one that did not die of breast cancer had breast cancer but died from colon cancer.

Don't worry, we have all had numerous colonoscopies.  My first colonoscopy they found a polyp and removed it.  I have been told that with regular colonoscopies I may be able to avoid colon cancer as the colonoscopy can be preventive for cancer as well as a diagnostic tool.

I have felt strongly that my sister should have the mastectomies done, but, for whatever reason, she resisted for many years.  She did take 5 years of aromasin.  This decision was hers totally and I believe it was in part based on my recent woes and in part based on her physicians telling her it was a prudent decision.  Lol, she hoped that they would say she didn't need to do this at all.

Praying she recovers as quickly as the rest of the sisters did after bilateral mastectomies.  She has chosen the implant route.  I will keep you all posted.
