I was scheduled to see my med onc this afternoon to discuss the results of Monday's CT scan.  Since I was picking up discs and copies of the reports from the 1/30/13 scan and also Monday's scan at the hospital prior to this appt., I looked at the dictated report and this was the impression:  “No evidence of metastatic disease in the chest, abdomen and pelvis.” Whew!  While I was phoning my husband to give him the good news, I received a message from the oncologist's office to call them.  I was told that my doctor had seen my results and since it was all good, there was no need to see me!  So, they cancelled today's appt. and I am to call and schedule one for 6 months.  Could it be that this was my last scan?  I certainly hope so!

Thats just WONDERFUL !!!!!!! It is so encouraging to hear the success stories of others and gives hope for us all to "live long and prosper." I have wondered how I would feel if I had no more scans scheduled.....right now I'm still at the point of "need to know" so will continue for a while. Maybe at 4-5 yrs I will be happy to be done also. Congratulations to you, and thank you for your inspiration and support to us all.

That is just fantastic.  I really hope that is your last scan.  How amazing will that be?  I had a PET scan in April that showed the scar tissue shrinking and only having an SUV of 4.4 which I thought was such good news after the one I had in December which showed an SUV of 6.6 in that area.  Hoping the next scan in October will just as good.

I am 4 years 4 months post treatment and have not had any scans since April 2011.  I just had my annual exam with my colorectal surgeon and he said everything looked fine.  My chemo doctor released me in March.  I know whar a relief it is to have GOOD news!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much!  I hope you are doing well--I love your new pic!  I agree, there are so many differences in the follow-up care that individuals get.  My oncologist is definitely a scan man.  I guess when I get to the point where I glow in the dark, I'll just ask him if he'll let my husband move in with him and his wife so hubs can get some sleep at night!  LOL!  I am hoping that the scan I just had will be the last.  I don't go back to see the oncologist again until December.  I am on a 6-month schedule with my colorectal doc for DRE's and anoscopes.  Perhaps when we hit the 5-year mark, the schedule will be even more relaxed.

Are you playing golf?  I hope so.  And I hope your new hip is doing well.  Take care and please don't be a stranger here--it's always good to hear from you!  Hugs!

I wish you all the best with your upcoming follow-up exam.  I know what you say about the anticipation--I've experienced that so many times during the last 5 years.  Here's hoping you'll get all good news.
