    fears doubts...

I am from Brazil, i´m not that proficient in english, i´m sorry if i don´t understand quite well how to use this space... but i will present my doubts...

I am 49 years old, was diagnosed with early-stage TNBC (6mm), no node involved in october 2012. My mother had breast cancer at the same age but it was hormonal healed.

Should i believe my case to be hereditary? Is it worth having BRCA testing for me? I'm afraid to have another lump in the breast or ovaries.

I had a quadrantectomy and after the surgery 4 benign cysts appeared in the same breast. I have never had cysts befor. I'm afraid of them becoming malignant.  Would it be better  to have the cysts removed,   or the whole breast?

    Thank you

There are many TNBC Survivors here!

There are many TNBC Survivors at this site - many with years 'under their belts'.  One needs to remember that TN is only part of the DX - The type  (IBC, DCIS, IDC, LCIS, ILC) is important as the different types of BC have different prognosis.

Certainly you have learned much on your journey but as with all of us - no matter what our individual DX is there is no way that any of us have learned 'everything' or can tell anyone else exactly what their journey will be or how to handle it as we are each wonderfully unique individuals.  There is no "One Size Fits All" when it comes to these Monsters who are all called Breast Cancer.

yes you will want to have

yes you will want to have your BRCA status checked. Even though your mother was hormone positive and you are negative. BRCA related breast cancer can be either one. Triple negative breast cancers are about 15% of breast cancer and 80% of that 15% are triple negative. If you are BRCA positive Its a good idea to have a double mastectomy and an oophorectomy (ovary removal)... Hope this helps.
