I had a laprascopic partial nephrectomy on April 11th and was told everything went well.  Came home on April 13th.  April 24th was taken to ER by ambulance for severe urinary track bleeding.  Catherized and sent home.  On the 27th back to ER unable to urinate at all - catherized and put on continuous irrigiation.  After two days everything fine - sent home.

May 9th woke up during the night and went to the bathroom three times and there was blood and clots.  However after those three episodes nothing - everything fine except for pain in my side - how long does that last?

Doctors said they are taking a wait and see approach and if it happens again will have to go back in for further testing of kidney.

Has anyone gone through this?  Kidney cancer STINKS!

    Oww!

Not yet.  I am really sorry to hear that!  AllI can offer is sympathy and a friendly word.  My surgery is next Tuesday.  I'm sure some of the others will have better advice!

Good luck.  If I can offer support, say the word!

    Questions

    Hi Sable,

It is good to see you back on here. I am sorry to hear that you are still having problems. Have you had an ultrasound to see how much blood is around your kidney? I had one done at four weeks to check for blood around the kidney and to see if the kidney was healing well. I still had pain around my kidney at four weeks, I am now over six weeks and have no pain at all. Has the pain been pretty much the same throughout or is it gradually diminishing?

    Hope you feel better soon.

The pain is pretty much the same all the time no better no worse.  I had a CT Scan the first trip to the ER and they said the bleeding by the kidney was insignificant.  Just know I don't feel great and getting tired of this.

    Pain

Constant pain is pretty hard to handle, have they given you anything other than Tylenol? Healing is a very individual process for each of us, I have had no sign of blood but I see others here have gone through something similar to you.

I hope you feel better soon, this whole situation has been stressful enough for you to deal with.

    Back in Hospital Again

Was taken back in the hospital for the 3rd time since my surgery April 11th when I had a partial robotic lymphrectomy of my left kidney.  I was taken in againf or bleeding from the urinary tract.  They inserted 13 coils around my kidney to stop the bleeding - sure hope this does the trick.

    Back in Hospital

    Hi Sable,

I hope that the coils resolve this problem for you, you have certainly had a lot to deal with. Do these coils gradually taper off the bleeding or are they effective almost immediately?
