Whoa...looks like a badger with long hair :)....i mean that in a good way. We have a great mutt...lab mix...some say she has pit bull in her...who knows. Shes 5 yrs old...about 90 lbs and a great big baby! Very tolerant of our little guy who loves to dive on her. She just looks at me like...mom couldnt you have stopped having babies after me! Will try to get a pic posted later. What kind of pooch is that Ann?

also known as the Dutch Barge Dog.  The breed lived on the canals in the old days, so not surprising he loves going on the boat.  But he really can't swim.  Who's ever heard of a dog who can't dog paddle??  And he is kind of weird looking.  We hear that a lot!

Are those guys siblings?  At first I thought it was two pics of the same cat.  Love the lolling in the sunshine shot!

Oh!  Such pretty babies!!  :).   Rick's sister is trying to give me  a 9 wk old gray kitten, but I'm just not ready for one yet.  I can barely handle two fish!!   I do wish I could snuggle up with one tonight though and fall asleep to its purring....  :)

mine have been such nice company for me.  I have spent way too much time alone over the last few years, and my cats lightened that time a little.  Of course, I have four of them, so I may actually be a crazy cat lady, and maybe not the best person to listen to in this regard!  AA

If we did not have our little dog in our life right now life would be much harder.  Your dog boating is a great picture!  And these beautiful cats that folks have ... our cat Tiger lived to be almost 20 years old but he was never very affectionate, but I think he did love us.  We rescued him from the woods behind our home as a kitten.

Here is part of our menagerie Sweet Pea and Squiggles.

Do you have them uploaded online or can you post them straight from your own computer? I don't know how to do it.

You click on "insert image" (the little blue/green icon in the tool bar below "comment")

Insert/edit Image box pops up, click on the little box at the end of the Image URL box (says "browse" when you hover over it with cursor)

File Browser box pops up, click on "upload" in upper left hand corner

New box opens, click on "choose file"

This takes you to the area where you can access photos on your computer (in my case, my photos are on Iphoto, for example), select photo there to add.  (You have to click on "insert" two more times to get the photo into the comment box).

oh AA please please forgive me.....I was so excited to try your instructions of uploading a photo that I just grabbed my favourite little cabin shot.....for anyone new this is the cabin my hubby and I finished last year......we are off the grid and did it all by hand.  The trees were all dead trees that had fallen on our land that hubby harvested.  Please once again....apologies.

Your little dog is a beauty AA......I will look for a pic of my cat.  She is long gone now but so so many times during treatment I wished for her company.....she used to curl up under my left arm and purr....it was like instant sleeping pill for me.  The day I put her down was filled with such overwhelming pain I have not found the heart to replace her.....but she was a stray who found me so maybe the fates will provide again.

In about another month or 2 the ice will be out and the snow will be gone and we will be able to visit this little cabin in the woods again.....yayyyyyyy I uploaded a pic......thanks soooo much

Any picture that brings a little cheer is most welcome.  Your cabin is very special.  Having a place like that to escape to from time to time is wonderful.  We've been very lucky that my in-laws have a cabin on the mountain lake in my boating pics.  It only has two rooms, and was built by my grandfather-in law from a kit about 60 years ago.  Used to be the "fancy" cabin on the lake, now it's dwarfed by three story mansions that their owners still refer to as "cabins".  I like ones like yours, small and cozy!

Those little tiny homes that folks sometimes live in have always intriqued me.  We have a friend whose son lives in one that is on wheels.  It is parked on their property.  It is so tiny and yet seems surprisely comfortbale for him.  Your cabin looks like it was built with love. -- Cynthia

he hates the water!  If he even gets a toe wet, he runs back onto the beach and barks at the lake like a maniac.

He looks like a baby! I love him. Thanks for this thread about pets. I forget how much they bring to my life and lately have taken them for granted and probably ignored them with all the stress. This has been good for me, seeing everybody's pets and stopping to appreciate my own.

Mike n Gizmo Kayaking Woods Cyn LakeLaurie my WifeWe call our dogs our Fuzzy Children. We would be lonely without them.   We went from Poms (show dogs) to our muts. My dog is a Beagle/ Chihuahua mix. She is smart, and active.  Laurie's dog is a Pekingese mut, we call him our pekamut. He is just a ball of love. He wants to please, and dislikes when everthing is not peaceful. He brings back the peace.

 Mike n Gizmo

We are Dog nuts, also.  I take my dog everywhere with me. I f you do not want my dog, I probably will not be there. Laurie's dog goes with me a lot aso, and if not he is at her feet in her office. When we had our Poms, and my business, My pom Shadow went with to most every studio in LA. I once had a director ask me not to bring Shadow to Warner with me. Only for an VP to tell me the next day, Where is Shadow?  lol   If our pets are well socialized they will belong anywhere one goes.

They have been such an emotional support for me while I am sick. They sit with me, and play when I feel up to it. I get them on their daily walks, and that helps me also.

Best ALways,  mike

Although we have a purebred now, our old dog was a middle-aged mutt we rescued from the animal shelter.  She was the ugliest terrier-whatever mix you'd ever seen, with big lumps on her legs, but she had a heart of gold.  Had been abandoned twice, but we were her "forever" family.  Kept her until she died at the age of 14.  The only bad thing about dogs is that they don't live long enough!

I support rescue and mutt-love in a big way (although our current pup Maxell is not).  In the few years between the time that our golden and mixed spaniel died, before we got our Cavalier, my son and I fostered baby puppies from the rascue shelter whose moms were too sick or had died.  It was so incredibly rewarding.  Your dogs are extrordinarily lucky to be with you all the time and enjoy in your activities. I have a baby-type sling that I put Maxwell in and I go in to stores. I just love his company and so does my family. You look like you live in a beautiful and healthy environment ... Colorado? Northwest? -- Cynthia

We live in the Mountains of Arizona at 5100' elevation. (half way between Flagstaff and Phoenix on the mountain route, Hwy 87)  A big change from Coastal California, and we love the AZ!

My dog Gizmo, was red tagged (1 more day at the shelter). When we got her in the grass pen, she went nuts and ran around extremely happy. She came to us right away and then rolled over to submit to us. We were done looking at dogs, we got chosen.

Six weeks later Laurie went to the pound to find another dog. She fell in love with Domino. He is just a ball of love.

Both dogs want to please, and were extremely easy to train.  We have 4 neighbors that volunteer to watch them when we go out of town. (Very fortunate for us!) It is always easy to find someone to take care of well balanced happy dogs.  The pound personel told us both dogs were not good companions. We feel if the dog submits and is happy, it is just socialization and simple obiedence training. We have rescued many dogs, train them and then find them homes. It is not that difficult to find a clean trained dog a home.  Many rescue groups could learn that lesson.

Best Always, mike

Here is my motley crew:

Buddy - my little red pup I got in 2005 from a home health patient (backwoods family, had about 15 dogs) whose dog had pups - I loved him and watched him from the time he was born. The dad said, "You better take that pup if you want him. I'm going to knock him in the head. We can't feed him." Say no more. Buddy is supposedly part dalmatian, chow, blue heeler, etc. I've got a baby pic and grown up pic of him here.

Rascal is the little Jack Russell that we acquired at a campground in Oklahoma on our way to Texas. He had been dumped there. He was sprayed by a skunk and reeked to high heaven. We took him anyway. This is him getting ANOTHER bath to try to get rid of the smell after we got him.

Varmint is the tortoiseshell kitten that showed up on our back porch half starved. My husband named her when she crawled up his leg and adopted him on the porch. She is lounging in the top of the cat tower in the living room now... life of leisure.

Smokey is the gray one - she was brought to me very sick, eyes glued shut, pneumonia, after her mother was killed when she was five weeks old. She was a fighter - we got her well and she now lives a life of leisure as well.

Juliet is the cream colored cat with the darker markings - she is 15 years old and now diabetic, on insulin twice a day. She is spoiled and lives a life of leisure and eats Fancy Feast because it's low carb.

Spud was the beautiful yellow cat we lost two years ago and still miss terribly. He was rescued as a kitten in 2001.

Taffy was the tiny yellow kitten Spud brought home (his mini-me) one day - when we opened the door to let Spud in, Taffy followed. She was very sick. We tried everything, took her to the vet, got medicine, fed her with a dropper, named her, but she only lived two days. Broke my heart. I never found out where she came from.

The last one is my daughter, her husband and son in a photo booth in November the day we got results that her cancer was "stable." Happy family! Just had to show them off too.

Sorry I posted so much and so many pics - this has been a much needed diversion for me!

Sandy

P.S. Edit: Where did my photos go??? Oh... I missed a step - inserting them! Fixed now.
