Great Scan Results

in Head and Neck Cancer #1

The preliminary results of my CT Scan were great. The tumors (for the most part) have shrunk by 50%. I am also virtually free of cancer-induced pain. So I'm continuing with the chemo, with only a slight modification. I will be going to a 3-week cycle, in the place of a 4-week cycle. 3 Weeks: 2 weeks with Taxol and Erbitux and 1 week with Erbitux only. I guess i get another CT Scan after two more cycles.

I am exstatic (is that a word?). Let's go out and celebrate. Forgot, I'm getting Taxol and Erbitux in a couple of hours, and won't feel much like celebrating then. Rick.

    YAY !!

    So happy for you, Rick!  Your good news made me smile ... you definitely deserved having something to celebrate.  Really glad you are not having any cancer-induced pain - celebrating is so much more fun when you don't hurt.  Wishin' there were a dance floor in this forum so we could waltz you around on it.  A couple of hours is long enough to have some fun ... so seize the moment.

    Order up some peperoni pizza's and beer (what I wouldn't give to be able to eat a pizza).

    Absolutely great news.  100% gone at the next scan.

    So glad to hear you are doing well and your tumors are shrinking and the pain has been eliminated or at least reduced dramatically.  Hope things continue to just get better.

    I'm glad to see some positive news from the front Rick. As far as celebrating? Most times, while the heart is ready and willing to do so, the body says "chill out". I was all ready to celebrate and I fell asleep! ~lol~

    That is the best news I've heard all day! The day will soon be here when you can celebrate without all of these treatments getting in the way.

    Hi Debbie,

    My last name is of Russian heritage (starts with a "T" and ends with a "sky"). While easily pronounced if read and said phonectically, it has been a source of mispronunciations ever since I can remember, typically ending up with several additional syllables :)  So folks started calling me "T" because they couldn't say it. In my music I market myself as Mark "T".... It's just easier  :)

    Thanks for being there: in my corner. This is really a long hard fight; so hard to get to all the little and big items. Also been to a rheumatologist for my Ankylosing Spondylitis ( an arthritis-like autoimune disease). Together with the oncologist, he came up with a treatment plan that consists of low-dose steroids (prednisone). They want me to avoid the NSID's for the time being because the chemo can cause problems with platlets. It seems all-right with me. I also use low-dose pain meds from the oncology group. So my pain is kept at a low level (around Level-3)

    I do have substantial chemo-fog, and don't think I write as clearly as I have in the past. For forgive my muddle.

    I slept for 14 hours also. Chemo knocks one out. Rick.
