Pillow I made for sister-in-law

I embroidered around the ribbon and added the word HOPE and did the no-sew for this pillow I made for my sister-in-law (she is in a breast cancer reoccurance), and I'm busy embroidering a blanket for her as well, but alas, no blue ribbon fabric for us, I looked!!!

    Very nice
How thoughtful! I really like this. Embroidery is a nice touch.
Wishing her the best and wellness as she moves forward.
She is so fortunate to have you as support.

How thoughtful of you to do this for your sister-in-law.

I took a look around the internet and couldn't scare up any colorectal cancer fabric.

I do know that you can print out digital pics on transfer paper and iron on to fabric.

I also found that Walmart on-line has a photo blanket for about $45.  They will do the transfer of up to 30 pics, you can create a title and select your own border color.  It is called "50 x 60 Photo Collage Fleece Blanket".  I am sure you can find many free images on the net to make a really unique one.

By the way, you did a beautiful job on the pillow!

    Hugs,

    Thanks Barb

I have extra pillows and fabric so am making more for the breast cancer patients at our OOU.  I was just hoping to do it for our colorectal people too.

    You are welcome

Here is a site where I found a fleece by the yard which has white background with light blue hearts and bows.  Not the ideal "blue" but you could do the iron pic of the colorectal ribbon over the bows.  http://www.denverfabrics.com/p/PF0806/Blue-Heart-Ribbon-Fleece

I will keep checking...there must be something out there!

How nice Winter....what a great idea!!!    Brenda you are funnySurprised     I actually saw a blue ribbon on the back of a truck yesterday,  so I tailgated close enough so I could see what it said ..... it was for prostate cancer awareness .... the others I've seen for prostate cancer typically look like a man's tie,  blue with stripes.

    No surprise there...

but your pink pillow looks very nice anyway!  AA

And Marie-thanks for that collage blanket idea.  With kids going away to college (as opposed to collage), I think that would make a nice going away present.  Or maybe the most embarrassing present ever, depending on what pictures you chose to put on it.

    Btw-

if you look at the blue box on the left, under "cancer.org", you see breast cancer support and prostate cancer support, but NO colon cancer support.  Guess we're just the red-headed stepchildren of the cancer world.  No offense to red heads...or stepkids.

    Certainly no offense meant!

It's just an old saying, suggesting that one is unwanted...but if it seems offensive to others, maybe I need to rethink it.  Guess I figured as a step kid myself, and the mom of a red head, it was ok.

And apparently some do find this offensive...

    Feeling all fuzzy warm inside

Just gave away my first pillow today to a breast cancer survivor in OOU today, she thank me several times, and loved it.

the lady from the Katz Cancer Center saw them and said they would love to have however many I make, she loved them.

guess I have a new hobby and get all warm and fuzzy feelings for it. Win Win.  Feeling good can bring a smile to others! Sweet!
