but haven't tried it. There are a couple other prescription meds out there for dry mouth....I figure they probably work differently for each person, just like everything else seems to do here.
commonly tried for dry mout following radiation. For some, it works well. For others, not so much. I was a complete failure. Side effects can be a problem. SWEATING! Nausea, diarrhea. But for many, worth a try. Technically it is a cholinergic agonist, so it has effects on all of the body's cholinergic receptors. That's why the side effects are so common. In fact, it is said that if you don't have enhanced sweating, you won't get the salivary effect.
No one has even offered me anything for dry mouth ! I even ask my GP if there was anything that would help and he said if there was he would have given it to me !!! Help !
I've been on salagen for well over a year - 3 times a day. I can surely tell when I miss a dose because my mouth gets dry and when I do take it, I do get the sweats, especially facially. Small price to pay. Part of the new normal. Good luck!

I tried saligen the first time I had radiation in 2010. Didn't help me and I couldn't even muster up the side effects :)
This time around (new tumors and new radiation, 12 weeks since, clean PET though) my doctor recommended Evoxac.
Never heard of it, but I just started with it today.
I'll follow up with results. Some dry mouth relief would be nice
