    shanhai is merely the latest, and apparently most industrious in a neverending series of spammers who plague this, and other websites, to get you  to buy a product.  This one is fake watches.  Crap, this dude spent four hours spamming away on the ENT board alone.  Unreal.

    The shanghai spammer should be blocked

    I am not quite sure if this can be done with this site, though. We can only flag the message. Of course, if blocked, the spammer could just use a new user name, but would make his/her life more difficult.

    Thank gawd the site was working this

    morning...as it was, it took almost 45 minutes to flag all those spammer posts.  Yes....I was the hero today, but damn....wasn't he an indrustrious soul?? Laughing  He'll get blocked I'm sure....and will reappear with a different name....or another will take his place.

    well, look at it this way

    in 45 minutes you undid what it took this fool 4 hours to accomplish.  Way to go!

    Considering the number of messages sent by shanghai, it looks like a typical case of Forum spambot. In any case, judging by content, his spam messages are not meant to be read by humans, but are instead posted to increase the number of hyperlinks to a particular web site, to boost its search engine ranking.

    I'm pretty sure the spammer didn't send individual posts, he more than like ly used a group approach, and spammed every thread automatically.

    Not just our H&N Forum, all of the forums if you noticed.

    Also, Phrannie...., I'm pretty sure you only had to flag one post for it to get taken care of...

    John,

     

    I think it sounds better that Phrannie fought a battle with the spammers (and won), but your remark is duly noted.

     

    Maybe if they would make a game out of fighting off spammers the gamers would pick up on it and good  night spammers.
