my husband diagnosed in Aug 2012 with Stage IV EC with several mets to the liver has had 3 lots of Cisplatin/5FU chemo but rescan showed liver tumours have grown in size so we swapped to Taxotere chemo, recent rescan again showed liver tumours still growing and liver function tests not too good. Tumour markers are quadrupled since dx. Dr yesterday suggested stop chemo as it is not doing my husband any good and any change in chemo will make him ill and will hospitalise him. We are having family conference today with dr to decide best form of treatment. dr estimates only a couple of months to live. We are so devastated, he was a very fit and healthy 62y.o. prior to dx. He has no pain at the moment, liver has enlarged, no eating as much as previous and very fatigued and weak. I thought it was chemo making him this way but it appears it is the liver failing. Not sure what to do, just thought i would post as a form of expressing my grief. I hope to be able to care for him at home. Can anyone tell me what to prepare myself for? I am in Australia and there is a lot available but i am not sure what to ask dr for as the next treatment. My hsband does not want any more chemo as he says he wants to quality time for the remainder of his time. Very heartbreaking. I have found a lot of comfort reading the posts from various survivors, some posts provided me with hope for my husband. I always thought where there are options there is hope but unfortunately we are running out of options. I wish everyone well with their challenge.
