Anyone else have trouble getting on CSN?

I am having a time getting on CSN discussion board lately. The last few days I was not able to access it from my home or from my work computer. It's running VERY slow and just keeps saying "page not available"

On the few attempts I did get in, it booted me off shortly thereafter.

Just wanted to make a comment thread so maybe the admin would know of my difficulty and anyone else.

Thanks,

Tim

in the keester for 3 days. I've lost so many posts, and that's when I can finally get into the board...it's not working very well AT ALL lately.

Hope they take note Tim. Thanks for posting. I was thinking it was my computer...but realized I could access other sites, just not this one. It's kicking me out and I'm losing my posts and having to retype. Let's hope they become aware of it and it's an easy fix.

Tim,

They (CSN) are aware of the problems. Sometimes when I am having trouble I type in TIM6003 into my search engine and pick a link to get in. I still have to login, but at least I by passed all the pages getting to the H&N forum (I also cross my fingers and toes)

I also saved a link directly to the H&N forum which takes me to the current (today’s date) page, still I have to login. Funny thing is sometimes when I go in the back way it says I am already login, go figure.

Matt

It still doesn’t help thee speed any.

i am having the same problems, getting in and loosing posts.

so what i have been doing is copying the post i have typed out and save it in some note page. then i hit the post comment. that way if it does not work i do not have to retype

it's not fun but at least it will minimize how much rework i have to do

yup. my historical record is that I lose maybe 10% of my posts. Like you, i put long ones on the clipboard so when they go "blooey" I have a copy.

Yes, same as Tim. The wait to get on is long and some times I never make it on.

Tim, it must just be you..., for the last few days every time I log on, it's like blazing fast....

Other than the many times, that it times out, gives me a forbidden, or refused message, LOL.

I sent Greta a text earlier and let her know also...

Glad its not just me. I already have a big enough inferiority complex.

it's been bad ever since I started hanging out around here, but the past two days have been even worse than usual.
normally it's just sloooow, or it deals 'server rejected connection' errors, or it causes double-postings...today it's been almost unusable.

I mostly use chrome, but same results with firefox.

I have noticed to, it was just happening again very slow today. The last couple of days all I get is a blank screen or it goes to AOL search not found. It's very frustrating

It seems bad throughout most of the day. But I'm usually up to midnight PST. At that late hour, it seems to run Okay. Rick.

It's a test in patience. Mike, this frustration will certainly test out the new anti-depressant for you. My lorazepam worked with the cancer but it's not holding up to being repeatedly thrown off this site.

I love the site and I will not retreat from it ....so if anyone thinks I'm AWOL or just a snob...I'm not :)

Best,

Tim

I was going to ask this same question. When I try and go to the discussion page I get an error message saying that I'm not connected to the Internet or the page just keeps trying to connect. Funny tho, I can get on anther site just fine. So frustrating,
Glad it's not just me.

Not sure exactly what this problem is, but they are working on it...

I beleve there is an upgrade in the works that should solve a lot of problems also. This should be in a few weeks or so..

I get frustrated with the reliability of the site as well...

I just happen to know Greta a little from my time here, and can communicate with her our problems and situation at times.

She is pretty awesome, but busy too... She is the main person behind the scenes concerning CSN.

Hopefully she'll be around a few more years, work and health permitting...she has some issues of her own she deals with.

Anyways..., she relays on anything she can't handle herself, and does a pretty good job of that.

Best,
John

Hey John,

Having joined only this past week, I already have a bucket full of complaints about the poor performance and unreliability of the site. I filled a couple contact webforms here but no response as yet. Even offered some free technical consulting.

The site is built using Drupal CMS, this is the technology that I make my living from. Coincidentally, I do have some sites running at LiquidWeb as well and my experience with their infrastructure and support staff is very good which leads me to believe the issue is on the CSN side.

LW is not going to provide the CSN application support required to keep the site healthy and operating to desired parameters. LW is a host that offers both managed and dedicated servers. Their responsibilities is to keep electricity feeding the servers and keeping the network talking to the servers.

There are a LOT of performance tuning aspects to keeping a drupal site healthy, especially one with as much content as this one.

If you have any IT contact inside CSN please pass along. Either the development side, the network and system admin group, support help desk, or business org is a good place to start.

Thanks
Don

Greta is the site admin, pretty much everything that is CSN.

I believe that I did meet the main IT guy when I was in Atlanta on a visit, along with Greta.

They are in the finishing stages for a pretty major site overhaul as far as I know...

You can try shooting her an email here on CSN..

Greta

She's an awesome person, an I can't express how much she has contributed to taking care of this site over the years.

Hoping you and tha man are doing well...

Getting cut lose after treatment is hard for awhile... You have to keep your mind set n recovery and knowing that you are going to be OK.

The hard part for me was being the center of attention everyday for several months..., always having someone to see or procedure.

Then cut lose, and you don't see anyone medically for a few months...

Pretty scary...

Best,
John

Hey Tim, for me, it's always a dice shoot, in that, I never know whether I will be able to get on or not; earliler today was a "not." It's very frustrating at times. So, sometiimes I sing the blues when I try to get on, and other times, like tonight, it's all sunshine and lollipops, I guess the website just has it's moods.................*
