go the day after Christmas. This year I will be working both days. This is a good year to miss both days as I don't have a whole lot of money to spend anyway. Temptaion levels will be down for me. I have bought some in advance and can make some out of suplies I have. I will get some holiday pay for Thanksgiving so I still can do some shopping without getting in too much trouble. I am avoiding the plastic.
I love black friday shopping it has actually became a family tradition with my sibling and nieces and nephews. I love to get thing cheaper for the kids and get done shopping early before most people even start theirs :)
do I really want to tell you that I have done this with girlfriends for the last 21 yrs!! I personally start shopping much earlier, when I see an item that reminds me of someone, or a super hot deal~
I have noticed tho the last few years that some of the B F D (hee hee black friday deals) are not as great as in the past.
But, it is about being with friends, and having fun, going to dinner, and sometimes we even spend the night out somewhere~

Usually you can find the same deals after Black Friday, so, we won't be doing it this year. I hope all of you that do, have a safe and fun time and get those amazing deals!
Melanie, I was out there too at 4AM. Katherine and her friends started at Target at 8PM (they wanted and got the 600 thread count queen sheets for $35), but I was asleep until about 3:30AM. Then, I got up and did the rounds with them. It has become a mother-daughter fun bonding day and we love to hunt down the bargains.
Some extra fun things this year: World Market gave each person an ornament and a free movie ticket ($12 value) if you were there when they opened and JCP is giving festive little buttons for the next few weeks that have a 1 in 4 chance of having a prize (mine was $10 off at least $10 purchase).
We end up having a nice warm breakfast at La Madeleine's around 10:30-11. Sounds crazy but we have a great time!
If I do, it will be online, as I really do not like to go out and about, store to store to store. Some of my colleagues at school will be out in full force.
My step-daughter is one of the "unfortunates" who has to be at work at 9:00 pm, Thursday, as she is a manager of a Bath & Body Works, and they will be opening at 10:00.
I honestly don't get it. There are sales all the time up until Christmas and then beyond. But it is a tradition for many and may all you shoppers enjoy the experience. I'll be painting.
No way will I be in that line.I value my life to much now and even before. I advise others on here not to. Not worth the trauma and our health.
The stores are so packed now I stay in the car while my husband goes grocery shopping. And all he talks about is the sick people coughing. He got mad at one guy and told him to cover his mouth. He didn't want him to spread his germs around. We've been known to go to other aisles when people cough. We don't want the crude.
Don't know about your areas but where we live there is a epidimic of bronchitis.I got it from my grandson. He was at his peak of spreading the germ. EVERYONE I talk to had it or knew of others who had it.Lasting for 2 months for most people Me included.Meds didn't touch it.
....and was in good company....the waiting room was full!
It took 4 hours, waiting and working on my car...but I drove away with 2 new 'upgraded' tires (they didn't have the others in stock, so the guy gave me my buy one/second 50% off discount on these), an oil change, lifetime alignment (I had wanted that), and even new wiper blades. SOOOOO my faithful auto, who has persevered through the entire move process, is all ready to go! I found a groupon coupon for a 'mini detail', inside and out...$16...so I will use that, as well, as a thank you for it's loyalty...*smile*
And, when I got bored, I walked to a nearby Denny's and got an 'early bird' special breakfast!!!! YEA!!!
I worked retail sales for many years...I stay far, far away from stores and shopping malls. I'm very thankful I don't have to deal with that mess anymore!
One of my girlfriends tried, begged me to go with her and another friend. I stood firm on not going and am I glad. I guess one of the stores they went to had a bunch of fights, yes, literally people were fighting. So stupid..
I stayed home and enjoyed the day with my hubby! :)
I DO not like to shop at all...I got all mine done about month ago when I got my xmas club check. NOW I just need stocking stuffers. My xmas card were ordered and printed early OCT (PHOTO cards like every year) all addressed and waiting to be mailed..
A few of you were really brave and went out! Sounds like you had a lot of fun too! I, personally, enjoyed cyber Monday! Yes I know, it is the chicken way, but, it is the safest and easiest way to shop too! lol

I will not be shopping on black friday. I can not handle the crowds.

A big no from me too! The crowds are horrible and there is nothing that I can't buy later on. Have fun whoever does go!

There is nothing they could put on sale that would get me out in the middle of the night to shop.

Just a few things for myself, and a pea coat for hubby at excellent prices. I wouldn't go out to the stores for any reason though.
I love the online thing.
