My dad is stage III , already seeing improvement (easier swallowing) after first round of chemo. After next round of chemo will go through chemo/radiation followed by surgery at Sloan in January. Would love to hear from others who have gone through these steps and come out on the other side with good results. Specifically if anyone had the surgery at Sloan would love to hear from you.

Thanks in advance for sharing your stories.

My husband was diagnosed stage 3 in May. He sailed through chemo and radiation with minimal side effects. Mostly just tired, a little nausea but very manageable, or at least he made it look that way. He had an MIE August 31st and was back to work part time in 5 weeks and full time after 8 weeks. He is still working to regain strength and learning how to eat, but doing great considering. Hopefully your father will continue to do well. It's an awful disease, but the statistics seem to be improving. Good luck.

I don't have any experience with surgery. My dad is Stage IVB and inoperable, but I just wanted to say hello and wish you the best! There are several here that will chime in with experience to help guide you along.

Best wishes!
