Sounds like my sister and your wife has similar cancer. She is 44 and stage IV for mets to the liver and bilateral lungs as well. Diagnosed Nov. 2010..They started her on a new FDA approved drug 3 weeks age. WOuld love to here more about your wife..My brother and law is so upset over this as well. They have a 15 year old who keeps busy with sports but hopes that the cancer word would go away (as he put on his facebook). My heart aches everyday that she is goig through this cance and everyone on this board. They are all heros in my mind and are special people. This board really is so informative for me to translate back to my sister. I hope you can keep in touch and I can get my brother n law to join the discussion...thanks, Belinda

    Hi Belinda,
How has your sister been handling the Folfiri+Zaltrap? What are her side effects so far? I've had stomach cramps that have lasted almost 2 weeks now. I have my second treatment Tuesday. I feel it's working for me but I am the eternal optimist. I hope your sister is doing well on this treatment.

    Hello Ron
    Hi Ron,

My sister had her 2nd treamentof Zaltrap last monday. She is having some stomach cramps as well..She looks great and feels good. Seems like a few days after chemo she is constantly fighting with constipation then diarrhea..She stays very busy with her 15year invovled with sports. I would love for her to join the board but she is having a hard time talking about her cancer. I am so happy that I found this website. My heart goes out to everyone on here. Do you take anything for your cramps or just way them out? Do you have alot of family support tohelp you through this?

    Do the stomach cramps start
Do the stomach cramps start with infusions?? Ask about getting Atropine shot, quiets the symptoms down very fast for me anyway. I'm not on Zaltrap, just Folfiri. But, Atropine really works on my churning tummy while getting infused.

Can't do anything for the cramps or constipation. LOMOTIL is a godsend for diarrhea. Have your doc give you a script for it.

    Yep that's the exact pattern
Yep that's the exact pattern I have. Constipation, severe cramps, diarrhea -oh and throw in a night of vomitting (is this too much info?). They offered me Atropine at chemo yesterday but I said no when they said it can cause constipation. Don't need anymore of that LOL! I just deal with the cramps and I battled the diarrhea with the BRAT diet (bananas, rice, applesauce and toast). I don't want to get into a pattern where I'm taking a pill to go and a pill to stop :-)
If all goes like last time, I will feel good by day 5 or 6. I can already tell that the potion is working. My stomach lost about 4-5 inches and I dropped 8 lbs in 2 weeks. I was retaining water in my abdomen because of my peritoneal mets. Seriously, I looked like a pregnant man.
I hope your sister is doing OK now and made it through the cramps.

    Hi Ron
    Hi Ron,
My sister has lost more weight as well since starting Zal-trap. I will be taking her for her 3rd treatment on Monday and I really feel like this Zal-trap is going to be a miracle drug. The last I checked her CEA level was at 130. Please keep me posted on how you are doing..I am enjoying the last nice day in our area before the cold comes. lol.. Belinda
