Lovely Day

I had a great day yesterday with one of my long-time friends. We attended the Pumpkin Festival in Half Moon Bay. It is our second year. The previous year she asked me to go but I had just finished treatment and had spent five days in the hospital. The weather was rainy and I didn't feel up to it. I still feel badly that she went alone. She is such a good friend who helped me get through this whole ordeal.

Yesterday the weather was perfect; sunny and a moderate temperature. We checked out all the vendors lined up along the main street. She was looking forward to a piece of pumpkin pie but as a "dedicated" weight watcher, I wanted to spend my points on a nice lunch. When she decided she wasn't going to have the pie because she didn't want to eat a whole piece, I said okay I'll share it with you. I mean, what are friends for?

We had a delicious lunch and then walked around. We chatted with some guys who were crabbing. One guy showed me a small crab. I asked if that one had to be thrown back and he said yes. Then he said, it's a male and I said, throw it back!

I love Half Moon Bay and had planned to spend a few days there on my own. I have never done anything like that. It's kind of a bucket list thing. I was checking out accomodations and trying to work up the nerve when I had my recurrance. That isn't what is stopping me though, because I feel fine.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful day with us. I agree with Zinaida that it feels good for me to read about your good day. Two years ago this past Thursday (October 11) I was having my surgery to remove the baseball-size tumor, total hysterectomy and removal of a foot of my lower bowel. On my two-year "anniversary" this week, I was speaking before 200 people at a conference for work. Not half as fun as your lovely trip to Half Moon Bay but I would say that we've both come a long way in two years!

she is one of the friends. She expressed to me the other day that she is a bit apprehensive about the 5k part. I told her it equals approximately 3 miles. I said I know I can do 2 which is what my weekly hike amounts to. I said we can take our time and just have fun. I mostly want to have some crazy fun.

You can walk the whole thing. If I can do it with no problem 2 mos and 2 weeks out of treatment she can... Have a blast. It is the whole point - to bring people together to have fun for a good cause.
