Mom has been in abdominal pain for a week and tuesday night we decided to go emergency because she had severe bloating of the abdomen and fever. After some testing they said she had abdominal fluids and that were infected. Now she is at hospital in IV antibiotics and on a couple of days she will have a CT to view what is going on.

Also this week the CEA raised from 41 a month ago to 72 now. Any of you know if the CEA could rise due to ascites?

Thanks for listening.
Celeste

Por supuesto ,la ascitis provoca una enorme inflamación y
Las inflamaciones suelen ser detectadas por el CEA.
Un beso y espero que tu madre mejore!

    Hi Celeste,
    I hope your Mom

    Hi Celeste,
I hope your Mom is feeling better. I have acites and stomach bloating. I have not experienced any infection because of it though. My CEA is rising similar to your Mom's
    :-(
I am on water pills to help with the bloating and I start Zaltrap chemo next week. I have a lot of hot flashes or hot sweats, whatever you want to call them. I sometimes wonder if it's due to the acites? I have reported them to my onc.
Sending healing prayers to your Mom :-)

    This is too much
    Hi all,

At Hospital today they drained 2 liters of fluid of the peritoneal cavity, but she continues having the bloating of the abdomen. Also she has fluid at lungs (pleural spill) and the CT says that on addition to the mets of the lungs, liver and peritoneum there is a right renal solid lesion that suggests the differential diagnosis between primary tumor and metastasis and also a pelvic lesion that suggest primary ovary tumor. This is too much!

I wish I had some good advice for you, but all I can say is that i wish you and your mom were not going through this. It's so hard to see our loved ones suffer and not be able to help. I've been both cancer caregiver and cancer patient, and I have to say I think your role may be harder, at least in emotional terms. Sending hugs and strength your way~Ann Alexandria

    Thinking of you, Celeste
I don't have much to add but just wanted to offer my support. It sounds like your mom is facing quite a few complications to her condition. I'm so sorry to hear this. Take care of yourself. Hang in there. Thinking of you.
