Does the Chat feature work?

I used to be a big "chatter" back when I was in a stop smoking support group about ten years ago. I noticed that there is a Chat link on the menu to the left on our website. Does it work? Does anyone ever use it? If so, do you somehow let others in the support group know that you are available in Chat? In my previous support group anyone that wanted to chat real-time would post a new thread on the discussion forum just saying in the subject line something like "in Chat room now come join us!".

Just curious. I haven't chatted real-time in years, well, other than at work where we have an inter company I.M. (Instant Messaging) System.

Please let us all know how, or if, Chat works here.

Denise, I will report back after I've called the number VickSam gave me. Hopefully we can make some use of it!

yes it does!!! for best information // directions --- call 1-800-227-2345.

Several Sisters in PINK us chat -- I too, have on occasion.

I will call and post what I find out in case others want to chat. As in my previous support group, there are people from all over the globe here so that could be useful for those of us (which may include all of us, at one time or another) that find ourselves at loose ends in the middle of the night.

I want to join in too!! I'm often up in the middle of the night too Cyndi.....We can chat at 3:00 am.....LOL

Just an FYI I'm im WA state so I'm Pacific time.

Here it is AGAIN up at 2:00 a.m. Central time. Ugh!!!
Anyway, probably due to my worsening sleep habits I had probably my worst day yesterday since my surgery and never got around to calling the 800 number to get more info. Maybe I will be more productive today. I'll keep you updated.

Hi, I'm up all the time at night and I have tried using the chat room a couple of times with no luck. When I click on the chat room on the Home page it takes me to a blank screen with a email address at the top of the page??? Am I doing something wrong? I would love to hear if anyone has ever gotten into the chat room.

This is the same thing I get. Sorry, I have still not called the 800 number I was given in an earlier post in this thread. I'm still not sleeping well, but the longer this goes on the less energy I have to actually call the 800 number! Anyone else that calls, please share with us what you find out. And I will still try to make that call myself, too.

I got into chat once a long time ago and never could get in after that, so, I gave up. I don't know if it is fixed now or not. Send a message at the top Contact CSN and hopefully you will hear something. Usually Greta, the moderator of this site, will reply to you.

yes, some of the people inmy support go on chat. It is intresting, you meet very nice people. i go on it as much as I can. I like it alot.

What happens when you go to chat? I get exactly the same screen Dawn said in her reply on this thread. Just a blank screen with a small email address at the top. I have even sent an email to that address asking for instructions but (not surprisingly) didn't get a response.

Let us know what the secret is. Also, are you on a desktop, laptop, PC, Mac, iPad or what? I know iPads don't use Flash so if the chat is based on Flash that might be why it doesn't work for me. I have a desktop PC and a laptop but I am only using my iPad since surgery.

I never got the chat to work for me although one time I actually did make it to the chat room...but no one was there lol.
Would like to see this work as well.

The chat room works. There are quite a few of us, cancer recovering and caregivers that use it. You need to have Java up and running. I do notice that sometimes if I can't get in on the Chrome browser I use, sometimes I use Mozilla. Tonight I couldn't get in using my IE but could with Chrome. I don't understand it.

If you want a response on help or to complain, use the CSN email system and put Greta in the address bar. Tell her the issues you are having. There have been other women on here that have complained that they can't get in and the usual reply is always make sure your Java is up and running for your browser. I have emailed that same address on the white screen and never got a response from that either. Has anyone? (lol) I don't understand why CSN puts that email address there if they don't respond to help people.

There seems to be an ebb and flow as to when people are in the chat room. I know it is real hit and miss during the day, but there is the evening crew.
