Molly,
My sis did have mets that started to detach her retina. Radiation took care of it. She ended up having to use natural tears eye drops and have plugs put in the drains of the tear ducts because she has chronic dry eye after that. She got to go to San Francisco for treatment because Stanford didn't to any thing above the neck. The imaging was really different.

Hopefully it's all for nothing and your eye doctor is just very thorough!

I must admit, I have never heard of this type of mets. I can't even imagine how you must feel. Let's hope and pray for the best result--no mets.

I will raise you up in prayer and send all my positive energy your way.

Please let us know.

Hugs, Renee

Hi sweet sister - I never heard of this either. I actually had to follow up with an eye Dr. (I don't use glasses, but because of Tamoxifen it was recommended that I saw one regularly because it can cause cataracts). So he did further testing and most recently a follow up to check on a spot I had in my eye. He wanted to make sure it didn't get bigger (ugh) - so it turned out to be a freckle which apparently its common.

I hope yours turns out to be b9 - I'll have you in my prayers.

Do you use sunglasses everyday? If not, you should. My dr. said you use dark sunglasses when it;s sunny and light one when its not - during the day.

I know you are nervous but hang in there. We'll lift you up in prayers...

Sending you a huge hug.

Dear MollyZ,

My uveitis specialist mentioned the possibility of eye mets after learning of my recurrence back in 2008. I have seen women mention eye metastasis on forums dealing with mets. It is not uncommon to have cancer go there from what I had read. Radiation is usually what is done to eradicate it.

What made your eye doctor want to do further testing on your eyes?

I hope you don't have this condition.

Best,

Doris

I have to say, in all my years of working in Ophthalmology, I don't ever remember having a patient with mets to the eye due to breast cancer....so hopefully the doctor is just being cautious.....

Wishing you the best outcome.....please keep us posted...

Try not to worry! Along with what MAJW said...I've been working in optics over 20 yrs. and can't remember a patient with eye mets from bc either.
Sometimes it seems like there is always something coming up we need to deal with! I wish we could all take a week off from our worries!!
Let us know, prayers and hugs,
Joyce

Oh the horrors of BC! I certainly hope this turns out to
be just a false alarm. I found music, good movie or book,
any escape really helps with the jittery nerves.

Why don't you share your fear openly? You shouldn't have
to hide it. Maybe you are trying to shield your husband
but I think right now you need support and shielding from
your worst fears.

Take good care of yourself, jittery nerves and all
Ayse

Just sending lots of good luck, prayers and hugs to you. I do remember your posting about your husband before, but, I really don't think you'd like my comment about him, so, I will be mute on that subject.

Big hugs, Debby

I just went through this same scare about 9 months ago. I had a small growth on the white portion of my eye and the eye doctor was very concerned so he scheduled surgery to have it removed and biopsied. Obviously any eye surgery is scary and yes I was awake for it but in reality it was not bad at all, they give you I don't care drugs LOL! It ended up being precancerous and we just need to keep an watchful eye on it to make sure it does not return. Keep us posted on this goes, you have my prayers and my wishes for a positive outcome!

Hugs,

Prayers that it's benign Mollyz. Can i ask was this found at a regular eye exam? Im asking because my eyesight has been getting progressively worse in one eye - i got new glasses a year ago and the vision in my right eye has deteriorated quickly and i get blurry vision randomly. Better get that checked out, huh?

for me! I was happily going through life, had an eye exam (routine) and they saw "something" on the back of one of my eyes and followed up with some photographs. They decided it was probably sun damage/a freckle, but like skin, one can get eye cancer from sun exposure, so I was supposed to check back in a year. The next month I had the routine Pap and mammogram and you know the rest of the story with me - endometrial and breast cancers. Anyway, I put the eye thing on the back burner, but about 9 months ago I decided to no longer ignore it and got rephotographed and checked. No change, so it's probably just that - a feckle. I'm supposed to get it rechecked in 2 years, so I will. But the horror of hearing the word cancer for the first time was pretty scarey. I never knew such a thing existed and this is the first time I've heard about breast cancer mets to the eye! Yikes.

Molly, I hope everything went well for you today. Please keep us updated.

I'm sure it's possible to get it anywhere once we're dx.I had been on tamox for just a year.Went to my eye doctor and had a cataract. He said tamox can cause that. Also had floaters which drove me crazy.Scared me when I first had that.I saw lights all over.I thought a lightning bug was in my hair.It was the floater.Things calmed down for that but you've reminded me I need a eye exam this month.

Hope things go good for you.No cancer is found and something simple.Ny doctor said my cataract is small and we can leave it alone for now.

Praying for a good report for you

Curious! What did the eye doctor have to say about your eyes?
