Let The Healing Begin!

At 830 this morning Dale rang the bell, officially completing his cancer treatment.

The plaque next to the brass bell reads:

Ring the bell
Three times well
It's toll to clearly say

My treatments done
This course is run
And I am on my way.

My sister sent me a YouTube video of Donna Summer's disco hit "Ring My Bell." Wish I knew how to post it here. I sang (off key I'm sure) the chorus while he rang the bell. Maybe Skiffin can help us with posting a link to the tune. Its a great tune to sing for the occasion. (and one of those songs you cant get out of your head)

Some of his cousins came by to help celebrate. We left with his mask "autographed" by his techs along with a suitable for framing Certificate of Achievement.

He feels pretty rotten physically right now but in the spirit of the Olympics:

LET THE HEALING BEGIN!

Congrats. Hope the healing begins soon and he is back on his feet before you know it. I am sure hearing that bell ring is a wonderful sound.

    NoDuck,

Nice report, time for a celebration. The once mountain of gloom reduced to history. I am very happy for you and with your permission will ring a bell for you (makes the neighbors look and the cat comes to the door, love it).

Keep healing, swallowing, drinking, and resting.

    Best,

    Matt

I stopped by You Tube to listen to the Donna Summer’s “Ring My Bell”, very happy and a bit suggestive (good choice).

    Ring That Bell!
Yes, ring your bell! And you are right, the Donna Summer song verses are a little suggestive but the chorus is catchy!

My nearly 80 year old mom wanted to come today but for her, it's a 3 hour one way trip. So I told her what time he would be done and she got out her Christmas bell collection. When I called her on the way home, instead of hearing "hello" on the other end, I heard her ringing her Chrsitmas bells. Reminded me of the old "I Love Lucy" episode where Lucy is in the bell choir.

Mom also told me a story her mom told her about the frog that fell into a bucket of milk. He kept paddling until he churned the milk into a ball of butter and then he jumped out.

So we are home healing and paddling!

    Thanks all.

    WAY TO GO DALE!!!!
It doesn't matter how tough you are, or how tough this disease has been on you...there is nothing can compare to ringing that bell!! Congrats to both of you on this accomplishment.

Loved the story about your mom and the bells...what a sweet woman she is!

So happy for you! I remember the day I rang the bell (4 weeks tomorrow). I was excited and so ready to be done but I remember I felt so crappy that it was all I could to act happy and cheerful. My neck was on fire and I was nauseas and just wanted to lay down, I so know how you feel! The next few weeks are all about the rest and sleep!
So funny I didn't know that the bell was at most offices in most places. Every time I saw that someone rang a bell I thought for sure it was at my Dr.! Mainly because the bell at my office was donated by a former patient so I just figured that's the bell everyone was referring to....haha so naive I am!

    Feel good and congrats again.
