Neck Cramps

3.5 years ago I had radical on right side only. I was a fair success. I still can use my shoulder, arm, no facial draw. Allthough I do get an occasional twitch on my right side of my face.

My problem is I have developed cramps in my neck now. Started out it was just a saliva gland that was trying to work, now I'm getting cramps in the left side of my neck that move across the adams apple, towards my surgery side, and the cramps sometimes make me gag and feels like someone has their hand on my throat choking me.

Has anyone had this type of cramping? Seems I seen someone on here had this problem and was taking something for it. I've searched and cant find it.

thanks for any input.

    Neck cramps...and pain
    Hey there !
I'm only 7 months out, but have been having these issues right around 4 months out of surgery. Was told today nerve damage from radical resect. Could last a short time...or forever. I'm on 300mgs of gabapentin 3x's a day....not helping alot. I too get the cramping through out the neck and feel like I could choke. But I also feel bruised, like I fell hard chin first on cement. I am going back in for recheck with ENT and maybe he'll scope just to recheck the rad damage. Hoping things will improve, keep us posted ! Warmest regards, Katie

    Neck pain
Yes I have the same problems with cramps and the migrating pain and the sensation that my throat is constricting at times. I think I have tried every medication "known to man" and some that probably weren't known and nothing ever really fixed the symptoms. Some meds I simply couldn't take because they drugged me up too badly (One Neurotin put me in la-la land for two days, that was the end of that.). I don't know if over the years it has gotten better or if I now just have to accept it (this does not include the ice-pick pains I get to my jaw) and just move on as best I can.

    choking sensation ...
I just recently started getting the choking sensation ...had not had that since 2 months after rads ..now 7 mo out ?? Go figure. So far no neck sharp pains or cramps..but the sides of my neck from the ear down to shoulders "ache" often ...

I had no surgery...just radiation and Erbitux :)

    Best,

    Tim

    cramps
Well, this is not encouraging. At least other people are having the same thing. I did get a msg. back from my Dr.s office today, they said it wasn't common to have this side effect this far out from surgery.

Well, I've always been a person to do things first.

    Thanks for the replies.
